I’ve looked over the whole thing, and the conclusion is that physics is a ■■■■■.

“People like me are NOT racist. It’s these people college admissions should model themselves after.”
After reading that, physicz is obviously a ■■■■■ or just plain arrogant.

…I’m not the OP. Stop being so ignorant.

Have you learned anything today, liv4physicz?

It’s funny you talk about ignorance. You can’t badmouth everyone because you don’t agree with them. You sound like Chris Christie.

End racism; end Affirmative Action!

Sure. Then we’ll have to end economic based AA and circumstantial AA.
AA has less to do with race and more to do with culture.
I’m done with this thread. Your ignorance and obvious racism won’t help you.

AA is necessary. During the 50’s and 60’s - women weren’t allowed to apply to Yale, Georgetown, Columbia, etc.

Once schools started accepting them, affirmative action was necessary to settle gender equality.

Liv4physicz you are quite ignorant.

And no, I’m not an URM.

I’M ignorant? Not at all. You AA-supporters are! You just assume that because HARVARD does it, it’s right. Learn to think for yourselves and stop discriminating against specific races.

Actually, I haven’t even thought of that reason, but I can’t see it making sense.
Just another typical conservative. Yell and scream until you get your way.

OK, well we seem to have determined that anyone who doesn’t support affirmative action must be a racist. Another page or two and someone will invoke Godwin’s Law. Then we can all go find something more productive to do.

Maybe you shouldn’t be. The Republicans are much more likely to end affirmative action for minorities. Of course, they’ll just replace it with affirmative action for well-connected rich white guys. You lose either way.

ALWAYS an African American taking someones spot?

You could replace ‘African American’ with White female/male, hispanic, and even Asian Female for candidate #2 and still have the same outcome…Who do you point the finger at then?

It’s impossible thst the most underrepresented group (100 or so admits) can take the 1000’s of spots from all these ‘more qualified’ ORM students posting on CC. You would think AA’s make up 70% of the Harvard student body vs 7%.

If you always scream ‘my stats are better’ every time you don’t make the cut, or make the team, or get the job, or get the girl/boy, you have a miserable life ahead of you.

Overall, I have Democratic views. I am pro-life and don’t agree with Affirmative Action one iota, but that’s not enough to sway me to Conservatism

Btw, I am not making a judgement about your views but in general - pro-life and anti affirmative action are two of the most conservative positions that most middle of the stream republicans dont agree with.

I don’t believe in issues like that persuading the way one votes. I associate with the party that has the correct economic views. Just because I think AA is unfair and abortions are immoral doesn’t mean I’m going to side with big-business Republicans whose fiscal plans favor the super rich and in turn enslave the super poor. That being said, I’m clearly not clear-cut Liberal, but this whole conversation is irrelevant to AA.

With or without affirmative action, I don’t believe Harvard would change the way it shapes it’s student body.

I really hope you know that democrat and conservative aren’t antonyms…

Analgin^Most Democrats and moderates are pro AA or at least not anti AA. I was just assuming something.

Well now you have a counterexample to “most” of them, don’t you?

AA is ridiculous. why isn’t it racist?? because it supports those who are more commonly discriminated against?? it doesn’t make any sense…
the American school system is ridiculous. why are colleges trying to compensate for character and background and all that?? just go through the interview and look at stats to see if the guy is a good fit.
who do adcoms think they are that they can totally judge a person??
