Was it your first choice? Does it have anything to do with your intended major?

ED0040, second choice, not even remotely related to my major :)

I only put down neuroscience 1, and didn't get in (not that I thought I would, seeing as how large the class is). I don't really care that much

I got into BN1...

oh lucky you...

SO30... my second choice

I wanted TA03, so i'm hoping there still might be room, but it's a capped-off freshman class and i figure everyone in that class probably already got in as their CAP...

MattyB, you don't need to take TA3 as a cap course (i didn't). there's a time during orientation where there's a meeting for all freshmen interested in taking it (at least there was last year). then you interview with three people and you're assigned a section.

liz - yeah I saw that on the schedule, a few questions about it though:

1) if i might want to take TA03 in the spring, do I still have to go?

2) it says something about auditions and interviews... did you "audition" so-to-speak with monologues or music or anything?? they're not 100% clear on that.

3) and in your opinion -- should I try to take it in the fall or should I just wait for the spring? (i'd also prefer S02... i'm not one to wake up for a 9:00 acting class in the morning)

1) yeah. "assigned a section" means they assign people to all sections for both semesters.

2) there was nothing audition-like about the interview. they basically just want to know how experienced you are and why you want to do theater and blahblahblah.

3) i took it in the fall... at 930 in the morning... haha. you can tell them which section you'd prefer, but generally they'll just put you in a section that they think is "good for you" (whatever that means). i didn't really care where i ended up. and honestly, i thought i would hate waking up that early for class but it was definitely the best class ever to wake up too. plus everyone else in the class was as groggy as i was. the TA was awesome and did a lot of physical type things to help us wake up.

I got into RU0029- Russian Literature in translation I: Pushkin to Dostoyevsky, with Levitsky.
It was my last choice, actually, so I'm kinda worried about the class.
Anyone know anything about the class/professor?
I hope I'm not screwed even before stepping on campus..

why'd you even put it as an option if you're afraid to take it? retard

i'm really glad i read the brown message boards before you, amor, started posting so much -- because i probably wouldn't have applied if i saw what you said to other people

i really hope you're not a true sample of what we'll find next year on the brown campus

he's got a point though. you don't need a cap course, thus you shouldnt have put down any choices you didnt really want.

p.s. i've yet to find one of amor's posts that is TRULY out of line. They may be harsh, but for the most part what he says is right.

amor, you've been getting worse and worse lately... maybe you should see someone about that...

I'm just being typically pessimistic and gloaming over not having gotten one of my first 5 picks.. I'm interested in the material, and the professor seems neat, but I was hoping for someone like Pucci or Keach. Whatever, i'm sure it'll be alright.
by the way, my brother and cousin both suffer from Down Syndrome; it's hard for anyone to have any respect for your troll-parade antics when theyre directed, well, through an online message board. I was only trying to get some help. But if you really feel like discussing a genetic condition, a condition which I suspect you have scarcely experienced for yourself, I suggest you try wiping your older brother's arse, or spend your summer babysitting a 22 year old with the mentality of a five year old.

Get off your sorry message board podium, as pathetic as it is, and try to live a little. You might learn something.

Aw, come on, amor. No reason to call names. These people got into Brown so they're clearly quite bright. You know that preregistration is a really confusing process, and they're doing it for the first time. Lay off!

sorry if you can't handle the word "retard"

i'm on no podium; rather, i subscribe to realism

the rest of you take things too seriously. calm down.

I think using the word "retard" is highly insensitive, somewhat vulgar, and really sophomoric.

Anyway, back to the main topic, I got "The Portrait" with Winkes, whom I hear is an awful professor with a thiiiiick accent.

The word "retard" is harmless to some people, and really hurtful to others. But no matter what word you used, it's still silly to call people names, and mean to make fun of incoming freshmen who are still trying to figure out our crazy system. Just be nice. :)

effulgent: lol
