I'm about to upgrade our family's phones and plans, and want to be sure DS has good service when he attends P next year. We're currently with AT&T. Any advice?

I don’t attend Princeton, but I live 12 miles north. Verizon is overwhlemingly the most popular and best carrier in Central Jersey. AT&T works reasonably well, so if you save more money with them, go ahead. But considering that many of your son’s friends will likely have Verizon at Princeton, and calling is free with the “In” plan, switching to them is an option. I personally have Verizon and get crystal clear reception and always have service.

and since alltel just got bought by verizon, alltel will have good service too…and we just got a packet explaining that alltel mobile to mobile includes both alltel and verizon phones

Verizon and AT&T are the most common providers, and they both have cell towers on top of Fine Hall, so reception is just fine for the two.

I live in Princeton and everyone uses VZW. Don’t bother with that AT&T crap, unless you have an iPhone.

AT&T service was spotty last year (according to my friends who had it), but since they installed the tower on top of Fine Hall it has been as good, if not better, than Verizon. You won’t have any problems on the campus if you decide to go with either one.

Nobody mentioned this, but Tmobile actually has horrible reception on campus.
