Which CC near the UW is the best?

I have just completed my first year at Bellevue College and due to the lack of higher level language courses at BC, I need to go to the UW as a non-matriculated student in order to take them. As such, I need to find a CC near the UW to attend. The only ones I have been able to find with a reasonable commute time by bus are North Seattle Central Community College and Seattle Central Community College. Which of those two do you think would be best for me? Also, if you can think of any other CCs close to the UW, I would love to hear about them. I want to study Computer Science, Japanese, and Mathematics so please account for that in your answer. If you know about the activities and clubs there, I would also like information on them as well as I want to get involved in clubs there unlike my time at BC. Thanks for your help.

I toured SCCC for a field trip, and it’s really nice. As far as community colleges go, it seemed to actually have some serious teachers and students. However, it was a photography field trip so we only really learned about the photo program and a bit about the other art programs. I don’t really know how good it is in other fields though.

saxman, it’s hard to judge them objectively…

For you, I would recommend browsing the schedules of both colleges, finding classes you want to take, and then going to ratemyprofessors.com and reading feedbacks about the professors of the classes you want to take.

Overall, SCCC is considered pretty good.

Your best bet is going to a CC within king county that actually have your classes and/or your intended transfer degree. For the most closest to the UW, it’s going to be Seattle Central or North Seattle for you anyway. Unless you are willing to make the commute or the decision to move out, I always favor Everett CC (no dormitories) and Edmonds CC (has dormitories) because they have better focus on their Associate in Sciences degrees than my college (Skagit Valley College).

And for your personal needs, both EvCC and EdCC have 200 level Japanese courses available. I’m guessing that’ll be Japanese IV to V at highest.

As previously mentioned, I loved SCCC. Some of the professors there are actually much more passionate and better then some of the professors I’ve had at UW.

I’ve only heard good things about SCCC. It’s not far from UW and isn’t in the middle of nowhere either.
