So my contract ends in august right so im wondering what company to go with now.. so from personal experience or thru friends which cell phone company has the best reception in the ucsd area?

AT&T has the best in my opinion or Verizon. T-mobile and sprint are so-so, most lose signal inside the price center. Then again, AT&T does sometimes. But I haven’t experienced it yet.

Verizon definitely.

I had t-mobile in the beginning of the year and it was atrocious, I had to switch.

I use AT&T and I’m happy with the reception that I get. In fact I sometimes receive reception where I’m not supposed to (like in some lecture halls).

I use AT&T, and I get full reception pretty much all over campus. The only place I can’t get reception is in the Price Center Theater

hmm im leaning towards at&t as well… maybe verizon. thanks for the input everyone.

AT&T = sim card, so unless your like me, a cell phone switching maniac.

Verizon = no sim card… = harder to use other phones.

When I was at the admit day, I got signal signal everywhere (price center, library, various parts of campus) but no signal in one lecture hall. (T-mobile service)

“When I was at the admit day, I got signal signal everywhere (price center, library, various parts of campus) but no signal in one lecture hall. (T-mobile service)”

How about at the table area outside of Price Center? It’s located in a pit, seems like they designed it to be the most awesome cell phone dead zone :(

I didn’t check. I will though next time I’m down there…

verizon works better on campus… too bad they don’t have the cool phones… but hey a phone is still primarily for talking right? I have been known to have signal when my att and tmobile buddies didn’t…

Why is that? Do they jam the signals there?

do you actually need to switch the area code to that of ucsd? my phone number’s soo easy to memorize and say…i’d rather not change it if i don’t have to, although it will be a little weird having a different area code.

no you dont have to switch the area code or anything else as long as u have a nation wide calling plan

nobody that i know switched area codes.
i got AT&T and it works perfectly. =] my friend had t-mobile last year and he said he got no reception in the res halls.
