Hey guys, I am currently a sophomore at Whitney High School in Cerritos, CA. I am debating on which class to take at the local community college: (PC Operating System A+ Certification, C/C++ programming, JAVA programming, or CCNA training). I am really interested in all of them, but unfortunately I do not have the time. In college I want to do computer science or robotic engineering. Which class would Carnegie Melon be most impressed with. Thanks.

If you are new to programming, Java is the best choice, as a lot of fundamental “welcome to comp. sci” classes seem to revolve around Java. However-- if you are already familiar with programming, try C/C++. These are the languages OSes are written in and they’re incredibly practical-- SO LONG as you already have a basis in programming.

If you don’t already know a language or two, learning C/C++ will suck majorly. Take it from a girl who’s tried. >_>; learn the basics before delving deeper.
