First quarter writing my thesis–can’t wait

Yeah for sure! Honestly, I’m quite bored of hearing people talk about their biology or engineering majors. I can’t really relate so I just say “COOOOOOOL” and change the subject. But it’s quite comforting to know there are fellow english nerds out there as well. :)

^^^I think I will minor in english!

^ I’m planning on minoring in English also! =X

^ er…me three?

Since the literature courses (including LTWR) are part of humanities, do the Muir Writing Programs also count as Humanities ?

and do people usually get an A or something close in the LTWR 8A-B-C classes?

(I have 13 humanities courses in total to do, and LTWR series are the only ones that interest me …so dont want to end up with a 3.0 coz of writing courses…)

and my potential quarter courses shows set of pearly white teeth :

Math 20B
Chem 6B
BENG 1
MPW 40
MUS13AM (maybe i’ll hear the spirits in this course)

LTWR 122 (need departmental approval for this, prolly next quarter )

To the older kids do you think it would be smart to sign up for psychology 1? Right now it’s at 11 kids on the waitlist for a class of 280. I’m one of the first freshman to select I think, as I got August 25th at 10:20, so do u think I would make the class?

^“Kids”? Really?

You’ll probably make it into the class. Generally in a class that large about 10% will end up dropping.

@howardho
by the way timings u mentioned, are they local californian time?

haha sorry I just refer to everyone as kids who are under 25. Cause really, we think we are adults, but we really aren’t until around 25.

But I think it’s PST, cause why wouldn’t it? It’s a California based school with most kids coming from the state of California.

And another question, what is the threshold of students that I should begin worrying at, like the mid twenties?

^Yeah it is PST. So if you’re in a different time zone, figure it out in advance!
^Yes to your second question. There is no surefire way to determine if you’ll get into a class, but my personal method is I assume 10% will drop. This may or may not end up happening… it’s up to you if you want to take that risk or not.

alright thank you very much. hopefully I’ll get the class but if not I’ll try for Psychology 3, there seems to be open seats

well the couselor recommendation came out for TMC and they recommended chem 6A, math 10B or 20B, Fine Arts GE, Doc 1, and a freshman seminar. Pretty much what I had in mind… except I probably will take 20A over 20B since I forgot alot of calculus…

I recommend using this to help select some professors. (does not contain every professor and every class, as this is an aggregate of LAST fall’s data) [Untitled Page](http://registrar.ucsd.edu/reports/default.aspx)

And for funsies (don’t want to be identified, that’s why there are Xs):
PSYC1XX
PSYC1XX
LTWL1XX
POLI1XX
thesis

Feels great to be done with my major (bio). Now I’m just taking psych classes for the minor and random fun classes. Helps when you’re applying to med school…

If anyone has questions, you can PM me…I don’t come here often so don’t expect some immediate response.

how hard is it to take both chem 6A and a math20 series? and do 4 classes and a seminar sound too much for the first quarter?

Okay which schedule seems better:

http://i239.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/ff37/AhoyArielle/Classes-1.jpg

OR

http://i239.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/ff37/AhoyArielle/Classes2.jpg

@AhoyArielle, to be honest, it’s by your own personal preference. Both schedules seem manageable, in my opinion. I see you’re taking Intro to Logic! Good luck! I hear it’s tough. =)

I’m taking (hopefully):

Muir 40 (if space already fills then I’m taking a US History class to complete that series)
Math 10A
Chem 6A
Japanese since I have family that just moved to Tokyo now.

I want to sign up for a dance class for fun, and I have danced before, so I think that I could take an intermediate class. But the prerequisite is that I need to have taken the beginning class first or have consent from the instructor. How would I do that? And to be safe should I sign up for a beginning and an intermediate?

Math 20A
Chem 6A
MAE 9
Warren Writing?

How come everyone is taking chem6A? is it bad to take like chem11?
