I think I want to major in sociology with a concentration on environmental science and I want to minor in biochemistry
in college. Do I need to take AP Chem or organic chem in high school to prepare for that or should I just be fine taking AP environmental Science (this year) and the required Physics (Honors level) course next year when I am a senior. Is organic Chem in college extremely difficult if you don't take it in high school?

I would take AP Chem and AP Bio

I head AP Environmental is a joke

Take ap enviro is looked at like ap psych (ap lite). You should take ap bio or ap chem with hon physics.

AP Bio is no longer offered at my school and what about the organic chemistry class is that a waste of time to take. I hear that in college organic chemistry is a lot harder than Chem

You could still take AP Bio from self studying or take the class online. Both you would still get credit.

That’s because it is a joke.

If your AP chem teacher isn’t any good it won’t make a difference. I’m taking AP chem right now and pretty much didn’t learn a thing that will be helpful. Make sure your aware of the teachers before taking the class.

Most high schools don’t offer organic chemistry as far as I know, and in college it usually requires the equivalent of AP Chem as a prerequisite. If your school would let you take organic chemistry without AP Chem first, then it’s probably not comparable to a college organic chemistry class and you should just take AP Chem.
I’d recommend taking AP Chem (I got a 4 on the test even though I had no idea what I was doing), but don’t feel obliged to do anything with AP Bio if your school doesn’t offer it.
