Which classes should we sign up for during priority?

Which classes should we sign up for during priority? Should we use priority for GE classes, such as the poli sci classes?

anything that will fill up fast. or classes with huge chunks of time (ie labs) which are hard to move around.

econ and polisci

nah definitely dont use it for ge’s

um
foreign language (if u really need it)
writing iis
any poli sci -_-;
honors collegium seminars
history 97’s

basically anything with less than 40 students often . . . and then ps of course since its a pain to get classes ~~

another good rule of thumb for which classes to use priority on is if there’s multiple times of a certain class/discussion but only one time fits in your schedule - you should sign up for it during priority.

I’m planning on taking the following classes:

Math 3B (4 units)

Chem 14B (4 units)

Writing I (5 units)

(maybe) Fiat Lux (1 unit)

Originally, I was planning on signing up for writing I, chem 14B, and a fiat lux first. But then I realized that there’s only 2 math 3B classes (and each class only has 180 openings). Meanwhile, there are 3 chem 14B classes (and each class has 350 openings). Which classes should I sign up for first then?

Also, is it recommended that I that chem 14B with chem 14BL? I’m a premed, and my counselor said that it would be better to space out my chemistry classes, so that I can do better in each one, especially if I want a high GPA. (By “spacing out,” I mean that I will take 1 chem classes every quarter, which will enable me to finish the whole chem series by the end of my sophomore year.) My roommate has been telling people to take chem 14B with 14BL because she says that you mainly use the things you learned in chem 14A for it. But on the schedule of classes website, it said that chem 14B is a co-requisite for the 14BL class so yeah… I’m afraid that it’ll be hard to immediately apply the new things I’m learning to the labs. So, should I take chem 14BL with chem 14B?

Thank you.

first - writing + 3b
chem 14b lower priority and fiat lux is lowest . . .

consider though that people will fail 3a and 14a and even though they might enroll in either or both for winter quarter. . . theyll become ineligible to take the courses

fiat lux is only 1 unit so you can go ahead and add it to your first pass too since WII + math 3B is only 9 units. but fiat lux should definitely be lowest priority when trying to work out your schedule because its not needed for anything.

out of chem 14b, 14bl, and physics 6a, which two should i use priority for?

People in clusters are given priority. Does this mean we should use priority to choose our cluster section?

if there is a specific section for your cluster that you really want, then sure. otherwise use it for other classes which are more important or will fill up faster.

I’m using the priority pass to enroll for Poli Sci 30, leaving me with one more class to enroll in.

Should I use it for Stats 10 or Poli Sci 115?

Hey, this might be a little bit off topic, but I just got the results for my Analytical Writing Placement Exam and yeah, passed it. Does that mean I can waive English Composition 3 or does that mean I have the prerequisite to take English Composition 3?

it should be watever will fill up fast.
like popular classes. or a popular teacher. class size. and i heard labs fill up quick.
so it just depends on wat you think you want the most

jiceo1, you waive the entry-level writing (eng comp 2) and now you take Eng Comp 3 to fulfill your Writing I requirement.

does anyone happen to know the approximate date range for 2nd pass for people with freshman/sophomore standing? my 2nd pass is the 28th, and I’m worrying about cluster discussion because one other freshman I know has his on the 26th

i’ve posted this before, but i’ll be nice: [UCLA Schedule of Classes: Enrollment Appointments](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/soc/enrollappt.htm)

all you have to do is go to the registrar’s website, and type “enrollment appointments” in the search bar!

^ people have blocked you because they don’t like your posts. :(

thank you, sorry :frowning: I just typed “ucla enrollment” in google and am too dumb
