I'm definitely stressing out right now and could use some advice. So, I'm not sure what profession I want to pursue in the future, but international law/business, anthropology, and philosophy are areas of interest for me. I'm looking into Cornell Univeristy's CAS and ILR because both schools cater to interests of mine.
I have visited the school and I can see myself there, so I have decided to apply early decision. My standardized test scores are not stellar. CR 730, M 700, and W 710. UShistory 740, lit 730. oh and one more problem, i haven't taken a math sat II yet and it is required for ILR. I'm signed up for the november sat; i guess i could switch it to a math subject test...? and take the real SAT (for when I apply to other schools) in december...? Some guidence would be much appreciated. I would do this if I had confidence that I could get into Cornell because than I wouldn't need higher SAT to have a better chance on getting into other schools. Does ILR make acceptions or look at AP scored instead, I have a 5 for cal ab?

Your SAT scores are fine. They’re actually pretty stellar. Sure, if you take the sat in November, your score has the possibility of going up maybe 20 or 30 points in each section, but so what? a few extra points won’t make or break you, but not having a math sat ii might, since its a requirement for ILR, and most top schools in the country. I suggest taking the math ii subject test next month, and maybe sign up for sats in december, like you said.

As for your school choice, it’s really up to you. It looks like you have a wide variety of interests. I’d say since 2 of the three areas of interest you listed are in CAS, you could probably apply there to try pursuing those interests, and if you decide you like international law or business, you could internal transfer into ILR, CALS AEM, or other schools if you’d like.

Your interests seem thus far to match CAS over ILR. Given the variety of your potential interests, you would seem like someone who would like the liberal arts curriculum of CAS.

Hey, thanks for your advice. You really put things in perspective for me.

also, CAS’s admission rate is higher than ILR.

But i agree, your interests seem to be more tailored to CAS than ILR.

CAS has a lower admissions rate than ILR.
