Which college for Computer Science?

Do to this and that my college choices are very limited.
However, among those choices I want to pick the one with the "best" computer science program.
My choices are, UCI, UCR, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal Poly Pomona. Please list them in rankings if you can from best to worst, if you have others that are close (1 hour) to Fullerton you can add those too. Thank you.

Among those, I don’t think you’ll find one profoundly the ‘best’. I’d suggest you apply to them all, while you await an answer, tour each campus and see which you like best.

BTW - you’ll get more responses if you put LA area in your title.

The head developer at a company I used to work for went to CSULB. I believe it has a pretty good program.

UCI will offer you the most academic CS opportunities although it’s much harder to get into than any of your other options.

I’m not sure commuting from Fullerton to Pomona is a great idea since the traffic and looking for parking might make the commute much longer than an hour.

I agree w/NCalRent. Many HS students don’t clearly understand what a CS major involves. Many college students change majors. So you may be better off choosing the school, not the CS department.

If you are as certain as can be that you want to major in CS, you can find rankings of undergraduate CS programs on the US News site. Google “UC Irvine” + “USNWR” etc. When you get to the main page for each school, click on the “rankings” tab and scroll down. You’ll see it’s ranked 28th. UCR is ranked 53rd. CS Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona don’t seem to be ranked for CS.

Does this really mean UC Irvine is “best” for CS? Well, maybe. You can compare the online course and faculty listings. Investigate internship opportunities. Ask the department chair (or admissions) about post-graduation outcomes. Are recent alumni getting good jobs? Are they getting into strong graduate programs?

The CSUs (with a few exceptions) don’t offer doctoral degrees. Therefore they wouldn’t be ranked with UCI.

^ Yes, the #28 ranking I cited for UC Irvine, and the #53 for Riverside, are actually the graduate program rankings for CS. Sorry about that.

US News does rank undergraduate computer engineering programs for institutions that do offer doctorates and for institutions that don’t.

lol thank you for the comments guys, keep them coming, as somebody said, I’ll include the LA area too, if there are colleges with good CS programs near the LA are please add them. Thank you
