Which college for Data science major

Hi everyone! I am going to be applying for fall 2020. I love data science, so I am hoping that I get accepted for it. I have been looking into the college systems and I think either Warren or Sixth. I don’t know about seventh yet, as I haven’t seen the GEs, but I might consider it. Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone else is a DS major and what they think the best college would be for it. I am also interested in getting a Statistics Minor and how easy that would be in either college. I know Warren has PofCs, but I’m afraid the DS major would take up the Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer science spot, and I would be forced to do 2 PofCs and a minor in stats. I also wanted to know how difficult the CAT writing courses are at Sixth. I’ve seen some posts saying CAT is easy, but also some saying CAT is difficult. Also some saying that it all depends on the TA. Any information about the DS major or Warren and Sixth College would be appreciated. Thanks!

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has a very different program structure and does offer this major. To better understand the program start with https://www.wpi.edu/project-based-learning/wpi-plan

WPI has offered an MS in Data Science for some time and is launching a BS program in DS this Fall. See https://www.wpi.edu/news/worcester-polytechnic-institute-responds-demand-talent-data-science-workforce. Read about Prof. Elke Rudensteiner, Program Director, @ https://www.wpi.edu/people/faculty/rundenst

For writing support see https://www.wpi.edu/student-experience/resources/writing-center/meet-the-team For Humanities Faculty see https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/humanities-arts

The average entering student for the University has a 3.9 GPA on an unweighted 4 point scale, It is a STEM University with four seven week terms and is built around undergraduate project research.

You can find a little information about the GE requirements at Seventh here: http://compare.ucsd.edu/

Another factor to consider is that AP credits are accepted differently in each college. https://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/pdf/APC-chart.pdf

Penn State I think has two programs one in the College of Engineering and the other program in the College of Information Sciences and Technology. Not sure why they have two programs but was at their building last week and it was nice!

The OP is asking specifically about the 6 (7) colleges at UCSD.
