Which college for ED

I just finished Junior Year and well, basically I slacked off my past 3 years of high school, but NOW I decided last minute that I really wanted to get into a good college (top 30). I'm really considering applying to a school ED but I'm not quite sure which school is a good match.

My stats:

Rank: My guess is about 20th percentile out of 650.
School: Very competitive in big city in CA

GPA: 3.3-3.4/4.0 UW
4.0W

As you can see, grades from high school are my weakness for my college app.

Yet, I like to overachieve and I take millions of courses in several community colleges.

By the end of the summer, I will have completed 7 college courses all with A's.

That boosted my UC GPA to a 4.37W and 3.69UW.

My GPA including 7th semester and including the 4 courses I will be taking in Fall 08 is around a 4.45.

My courses:
Freshmen year: Biology, Mod World, Adv Alg H, Chinese, English
Sophomore year: Chemistry H, AP Euro, Geo H, Chinese, English, Ceramics
Junior year: AP Chem, US Hon, Pre Cal H, Chinese H, English, AP Music
Senior year: APES, AP Govt, AP Econ, English

College courses:
Junior year (Fall, Spring and Summer): Psyc, Eng 1a, Am Sign Lang 1a, Cult Anthropology, Graphic Design, Sociology, Stats
Senior year (Fall): Eng 1b, Am Sign Lang 1b, Bio, Phys Anthropology

AP Tests:
Soph year: AP Euro 4
Junior year: AP Chem, AP Music, AP Human Geo (self studied), AP Calc BC (self studied)

ECs:
Student govt (11+12), Key club PR (10-12), CSF (11+12), piano, and others probably

SATs:
CR:700 M:800 W:750 Overall:1500/ 2250
Math 2c: 800 Chemistry:720

Hook: I graphic design for 21+ night club promotion companies since 8th grade. Since then, I've opened a marketing company with my older sister (since she's over 18). I will make flyers for political promotion for the upcoming elections and design restaurant menus. I will probably send my portfolio.
I will also participate in a regional beauty pageant in December.

What I look for in a school:
Location: SoCal or East Coast (Mid Atlantic or New England).
I don't really care if a school is located in a big city or a small suburb, so long as it's not too rural.

Demographics: At least 15% Asian

I'd prefer the school to have the Greek system.

I want to major in Business Econ/Econ.

If you have to ask this question, you are not ready to apply anywhere ED. ED is binding (if you get in you promise to go), and thus should be limited to your CLEAR FIRST CHOICE of school. Some kids post that they can’t decide between two ED schools; even then, they’re gambling that they’re going to make the right choice.

You, on the other hand, don’t even have a preliminary list of schools that you like. How can anyone suggest a school that will be your first choice?

Additionally, if you are looking for financial aid, applying ED is risky. Even schools that offer 100% of need calculate that need according to their own formulae, not yours.

Come back when you think you know where you want to apply.

Funny how that works, isn’t it?

Hmm…schools you may want to look into are NYU Stern or maybe UPENN wharton. Just a two after scanning the profile.

eh, I think UPenn is not so forgiving about slacking off for three years. NYU sounds good, though a bit of a reach.

Wharton??? srry dude no cake, here’s my list for you
NYU Stern (ED best chance)
CMU Tepper
Indiana Kelley
USC Marshall
and then there are the LAC’s, they have pretty good econ programs, however I’m not really familiar with these might wanna do some research though.

I still think if he liked the school, he could apply to wharton. You never do know about these things. Essays, Reccomendations, and something spectacular could get him in…

I’m not suggesting he set his heart on going there, but it is a reach school nonetheless.

Of course, by no means let me or anyone else on this site deter you from applying to any school! We are just here to give our 2 cents! and good luck!

Well schools that I like:
USC, UCLA Anderson, UMich Ross, Columbia, JHU,

Schools I don’t like:
NYU because it lacks a campus.
UCB because the social life there sucks, and the city is just depressing. The biggest thing there is San Francisco, which is not that great.
CMU because Pittsburgh is not my kind of city. It’s too sooty.

I don’t think you’re going to like JHU in that case.

You don’t like SanFran??? lol thats a first…well in that case, Indiana’s social scene isn’t that great and you just shot down my list! =]
