I have a dilemma.>
Want to do international relations and/or business, and I've looked at Wharton as my priority.
HOwever, reconsidering things I was wondering if one should actually attend HBS or Wharton in GRAD SCHOOl, while as an undergrad, go for the prestige, etc.. like harvard, yale.
Would appreciate advice.
thx

i would say wharton undergrad is just as prestigious as harvard or yale. often people say that if you go to grad school, it matters more where you go to grad school than where you go to undergrad. but i think you should look more for where you fit best than where there is the most prestige. if i were you, though, i would go with a school like harvard or yale for undergrad, because i'd want a more liberal arts curriculum and then go into business for grad school. you'll never have another 4 years to learn about whatever you want, so for me, i would keep my options open as long as possible (even if you're positive you'll always be interested in business).

The presumption here is that you will actually be able to attend HBS or Wharton for grad school, which is no small assumption. Plenty of people who went to extremely high-powered undergrad schools nonetheless find that they can't get into a decent graduate school. Let's face it. If you graduate last in your undergrad class at Harvard, you're not going to get into a decent graduate school. And somebody at Harvard has to finish last.

Fair enough.>
well, then, weighting everything together..
The fact that I want to engage in business or international relations
and the fact that I may not even get into HBS or Wharton for grad-school..
where should I aim for out of ..
WHarton or Harvard or Yale, etc.. etc.. those ivy's and stanford, berkeley.

Aim for Wharton. Only about 30% of Wharton undergrads go on to get an MBA anyways. Most companies value the Wharton Undergrad degree as highly as an MBA degree...

Well, I don't know about that. If that were really true, then those companies ought to be paying the Wharton undergrads just as much as they pay the MBA's. Companies pay the Wharton ug's well, but not THAT well.
