Which college gives the better aid (Barnard or Wellesley?)

Since I am applying to both, actually I am still considering over Wellesley, I want to know which college I stand a better chance in getting aid? Which college gives more importance to diversity, which probably can boost my chance in getting higher aid and also getting admitted, ? I cant afford either of thm without enough aid, since my mom is not working, n dad is not alive. So my stats (SAT 2100 CR 750, Math 690 Writing 660) and GPA around 3.75. SAT 2: BIO 790, MATH 2 760 Physics 690 Chem 700) 2 APs with 4, AP Calculus AB 5

So, which college best suit me based on my financial need?

And I am choosing Biology as a major.

I don't know about Wellesley. Barnard gave us a fabulous financial aid package, best D received, second only to Mt. Holyoke.

Barnard and Bryn Mawr are particularly strong in the sciences, though Mt. Holyoke is also known for that.

Wellesley and Smith are wonderful schools too.

Why not apply to all and wait to see where you get in and which gives the best financial aid?

D chose Barnard because she loved its feel, wanted to be in NYC and wanted the resources of Columbia. She is a junior and has not been sorry with her choice.

Good luck!

SkyGirl, both colleges provide 100% need based aid, and neither will add money to the mix for "diversity" or any other reason -- you will simply get what you need. Given your financial situation, you probably will get similar packages from each. You might want to call the financial aid offices for each place and ask what they typically require of first year students for loans and work-study --but I think you will find their policies roughly equivalent.

Over 50% of Wellesley students are on financial aid and the school recently abolished loans and switched to an all-grant system for students whose families earn under $60,000.

I think Wellesley has such good aid because we have about $1.4 billion in endowment money for only 2,400 students.

do you live in ny? barnard has a special thing (i think it's called HEOP?) for low income students.
