Which college is best for biology?

I am a high school senior interested in bio/premed and have been accepted into many colleges so far. I'm having a hard time deciding which one is the best for biology. If you help me I will answer any of your questions too :)

I live in Massachusetts btw.

University of Maine (with scholarship)
University of Tampa (with scholarship)
University of Massachusetts- Amherst (with scholarship)
University of Massachusetts- Dartmouth (with scholarship)
George Mason University
University of New Hampshire
University of New Haven (with scholarship)
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Albany (with scholarship)
Manhattan College (with scholarship)

Which school is the best school for academics and which is the best for biology/sciences? Thanks so much!

Your best best is either SUNY Albany, Binghamton, or UNH. Out of those I think Albany has the best bio department.

Net price at each?

Medical school is expensive, so you want to minimize debt and save money for medical school. And if you do not get into medical school like most pre-meds, you do not want to graduate into the biology job market with large amounts of debt.

US News and the National Research Council both rank biology programs.

These are graduate program rankings. They are a fairly weak basis for evaluating undergraduate programs, but are about the best basis available to answer your question unless someone on this forum is a biologist familiar with the programs at multiple schools on your list.

Unless your family is very wealthy, I think ucb is right to suggest that cost is a better basis for choosing among these schools.

I would go with UMass Amherst. It’s a better school than most of your other options.

What are your parents saying about paying the remaining costs at these schools?

“best for biology. I”

lol…bio is at every school. They all will have fine bio programs. It’s not a magic formula to have a good bio program. They’re all fine for premed.

What state do you live in?

You won’t likely get much more aid from those OOS publics other than the scholarships, so will your parents pay the rest of the costs? IF not, take those schools off your list.

have you visited these schools? If so, which did you like better.

How much was each schools’ merit offer?

Go to the school that you LIKE and is easily affordable.

thanks everyone! i recently got accepted into SUNY Stony Brook, do you think that one would beat Umass Amherst for their bio/pre med program? thanks

also if any of you need help feel free to let me know
