Which College is good for University Transfer in Vancouver?

Hi all,

I need your help people. I am planning to come to Canada next year 2010. I am not sure which college to choose for University Transfer. I am thinking either Douglas College or Columbia College in Vancouver. After 2 years of study in College, i will like to go to UBC. Btw, i want to study Business Management. So i appreciate if you guys can give me an idea.
Thanks a million.

I dont know enough hands on, but from what I have gathered, Simon Fraser is very good in the Vancouver area

Hi thanks for your reply. I am considering to join either UBC or SFU after my 2 years of college in vancouver. I will apply for Douglas College first. Is it ok?

Make sure your credits are transferrable in the right majors. Sometimes they won’t let you transfer credits.

Douglas College offer UniTrans for business program.
Here is the link.

I want to study Banking and Finance but I dont see any course related to that. =(
Any suggestions?

Why not just apply to a university first? I’m not familiar with the college system in BC but I know that in Ontario, very few universities would offer transfer credit for college coursework. You should investigate this thoroughly with the BC universities you are interested in prior to making this commitment.

1) My mum lives in Vancouver and she went to take a look at the school. She told me that the school looks good and its quite near to her house. For Uni transfer, I think they allow college students to transfer but i need to know the numbers! So far, i cant find any.
2) Actually, I have already completed my Diploma in Networking! but i wish to change my career so i have decided to study business. I wrote an email to Douglas College and still there is no reply for days. Worst case, i will have to ring my mum to go down to the school.

Lots and lots of credits are completely transferrable (up to two years worth) from community college to university. Just investigate in advance as you may find some will not. But most public colleges seek to make their courses comparable to first and second year uni courses to which their students will later apply. I know this because as dept chair I have to approve the syllabi of such courses for transfer credit to our own program.

Yaa Douglas works well that way …also Kwantlen University offers similar options …so look into it

That’s great. =) I really appreciate all your help.

I wouldn’t recomment Douglas college just because it’s in one of the most dangerous suburbs in Vancouver. I would much rather choose, Langara college, Kwantlen, Vancouver Community College or Columbia college.
