Which college is the best fit?

My options are:
Temple university (honors) with a full tuition scholarship and 4K study abroad stipend.
Northeastern with a 20k scholarship
University of Washington with a 7,200k scholarship OOS tuition
After my parents contribution, NEU would be 10k a year and UW would be 12k. UW was originally my first choice because it is closer to home but idk if it is worth the money. My major is biochem. Is working summers plus a little debt worth it to attend a “better” school?

UW, then Temple, then Northeastern.

What is your actual net cost per school?
(Tuition, fees, room, board)-(scholarships, grants)=
and what is your parents’budget?
Do you have savings, a college fund, a job?

As much as the above poster wants to do a traditional & responsible analysis, do you have any idea of the job market in Seattle & the wages, benefits & bonuses ?

If you want medicine, then go cheap as all doctors–good & bad–are paid the same if in the same practice area.

Most college students work summers and probably the majority take on “a little debt.” So those two things shouldn’t drive your decision. I would define “a little debt” as around $10,000 (total). $10,000 is a very manageable debt load and “worth it” if it enables you to make a choice you’d prefer.

I agree with @MYOS1634 above. Amounts of scholarships are meaningless for comparison. Figure out what the actual room, board, tuition, and fees are, and subtract scholarships/grants to arrive at net cost. Don’t use the college’s “official” Cost of Attendance.

Don’t factor in books, personal expenses, etc., those will be similar anywhere. Check if health insurance is required and if your existing health insurance will be acceptable. This can be a $2,000 a year expense, worth looking into ahead of time. You should be able to find all this info on each college’s website. If in doubt, call the school for clarification.

Try to make an estimate of travel costs. If you could drive to UW but would have to fly to the East Coast out of a rural airport, that could amount to a lot of money. If you can use Southwest Air, it won’t be so bad.

All three schools are good schools. Honestly, I don’t know which one you think is “better.” Look at the financial picture and your “druthers” and there may be a clear answer. Is the study abroad stipend important to you? Then give Temple a little extra credit in your comparisons. Do you just like one school better? Then give it an extra check mark.

Until you give us actual net costs, we can’t say if one is too much money or not.
