<p>They say that if you wear your Earlham t-shirt in Japan, people will walk up to you on the street to say hello. There’s a wonderful story behind the special relationship between EC and Japan. During World War II, when Japanese-Americans were being rounded up into internment camps, Earlham asked and received permission from the US government to enroll several dozen students, sparing them from the camps. Japan has never forgotten that gesture. </p>
