I'm planning to apply to UC San Diego as a transfer student but it tells me to pick a school but I don't know the difference and which one is better for a history student.

I basically have no idea on how to rank them on the UC Apps.

ERC for the 5-quarter MMW GE. It’s full of history, culture, essays, and Carne Asada fries (if you’re hungry before or after class). snickers

Seriously, ERC. Everything else is bland for history.

As if their history classes would be any different.

Only Professor Herbst can make history fun. He brings candy and kids to lectures on some days.

MMW is pretty amazing, erratic grading aside.

Do a research on each college.
Probably not Warren, because it’s more like a place for engineering students.
Don’t choose Revelle, put it at the bottom of your list
Perhaps: Muir or Marshall

Well first off they’re a transfer student so they wouldn’t be living there. And then I don’t see how it would be necessarily less for history majors than any of the other colleges.

Marshall!! The DOC series is very history based, and the college has a lot less requirements than ERC.

ERC no. 1!!!
The MMW program isn’t that bad if you like or dislike history. If you took AP World in HS, it’s basically the same course (and if you used Traditions and Encounters the same book) except it’s more detailed because you have 5 courses to take and no big AP exam waiting in the end. I don’t like history, but Herbst made it fun (though I hated iClickers because I would have to read the assigned readings and come to lecture… is he retiring btw?) , Prof. Chang is another one of the specials at UCSD. His lectures are pretty awesome and his exams are just as awesome because he gives you pretty much everything on it(he creates a big study guide composing of possible terms that could show up in the MC and match section, and he gives you the short essay / essay topics beforehand). you walk into Chang’s exam pretty confidently (at least for me). these are the two MMW Prof’s I’ve had in my entire MMW journey and they are definitely one of my favorites.

You can even complete an MMW course abroad in some foreign country too, so that would be a fun experience too.
