I have been accepted into the following schools so far for Biology:
CSU Long Beach
University of Pacific
Sonoma State University
CSU Sacramento
UC Riverside
UC Merced
I have been waitlisted at the following schools for the same major:
UC Santa Cruz
Case Western University
Out of all the schools listed, which one would be best for a biology major?
Also, I still have to hear back from UC Irvine and University of San Diego, what are my chances of getting in?
Weight GPA: 3.7
ACT: 29
I have taken 7 APs throughout high school and passed every test
I have 190 hours of community service
I am in/have been in 4 clubs: Interact Club, Conflict Mediation Club, Friendship Club (eat lunch with the special ed students), and GATE Club.
I have completed A-G requirements
UC Riverside has a pretty good bio department.
I can agree with above comment, I have heard the same- THAT BEING SAID- make sure you visit all schools- take advantage of admitted student days and try to get a “feel” for the college- best of luck
narrow your list to 4 and go on a road trip.
Thank you! Do you happen to attend UCR? Or is that just a well known fact
@anxiousenior1 LOL above question was for you XD
Ucr is going to have the next CA med school and has several medical tracks. So if you’re interested in biology for the health professions it’s be a great university for you.
What’s your net price at each (add tuition, fees, room and board; then deduct grants and scholarships but not loans or work study).
@MYOS1634 UCR’s med school is already open. It enrolled its first class in 2013, so will be graduating its first class a year from now.
UCR has long been strong in biology, so no worries there. It was strong in bio back in the 70s when some of my friends went there for bio.
that said…what do you plan on doing with a bio major? Are you premed?
I think that if I were a premed with those choices, I would really look at Merced. It is a very small UC, so it’s almost like a private school. And, everything is new there. I would imagine that the personal attention far exceeds that of the other UCs. For a premed, where grades are extremely important, to have easy access to professors would be a plus. Additionally, being a small and intimate school, it would appear that it would be easier to get research positions.
Sorry, have been focused on the premed part
Thanks for the info
