UIUC(~52k) vs Purdue(first year engineering ~48k) vs UCSB(~35k) vs UCSD(waitlisted ~35k) vs UWash-Seattle(pre-engineering ~48k) vs UC Irvine(undeclared ~35k) all for computer engineering? I live in California and tuition could be a big part of my decision. The only school I got a scholarship to is UWash.
I don’t really mind the cold weather but I’ve lived in CA for all my life so that might be a problem. I really want to come work in the bay area after college so would going to an oos school affect my chances of being able to do that? I also don’t really care much about the fact that uiuc and purdue are big 10 schools because I’m not that interested in sports. I’m also not too interested in partying much at college and I’m looking for a college with lots of research and career opportunities for undergrad students. Also, I’ve heard it’s difficult to get into computer engineering from pre-engineering at UWash and Purdue. Is there any chance that I would get off the waitlist at UCSD into computer engineering? Is it easy to transfer into UCI computer engineering? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
