Which college should I target?

I’m currently a junior that lives near Houston. I stand at the top 2% of my class of 800 students. My career choice is in the medical field, preferably a general practitioner. The college I want to attend is one in Texas so I can be close to home. I know about the good pre-med programs that Baylor, A&M, Rice, and UT offer; however, I am interested in the University of Houston. The campus is close to family and Houston is also the ideal location for volunteering with doctors at the medical center.

I would like to know if UH offers a good pre-med program, one that could possibly land me into a medical school in Houston. Thanks!

The University of Houston received a mention in an online list: “The Experts’ Choice: Colleges With Great Pre-med Programs.” This should give you assurance that they have been sufficiently successful in furthering the goals of their premed students.
