Which college to apply to, colgate, lafayette or union?

i already applied to 4 schools that(not to sound arrogant) but i know i'll get in. But, I'd like to apply to one school that is fairly selective. (i would apply to more but will not due to financial situation thus probably wont go away and don't want to waste money on app fees i wont go to)
After some research i have narrowed down this 'wish' school to colgate university, lafayette college and union college(new york).
I am not wondering whether i'll get in or not, that's up to the admissions people, i'm just wondering which i should apply to.
So give me your opinion whether the answer be based upon social life, reputation, personal experience, etc.
Thank you very much

It would help to know your stats and what you might be interested in as a major. Of that list, I lean towards Colgate, but it is in the middle of nowhere, which might not suit you.

*but what are my chances, and could they give me a lot of grant money?
my unweighted gpa up till this year is 92.9. I got 650 writing, 720 math, 560 writing, on sats, taking again in october.

… to the best of my knowledge the annual income is about 42,000 for a family of 4, brother started college this year, and we have massive medical bills because he has a chronic illness. *

What are your Oct scores?

Sounds like you should only apply to a school that meets need.

What’s your likely major?

i am fine with in the middle of nowhere, i hope to live in the middle of nowhere when i get older, love rural places.

my october scores did not improve at all and i took act which i did horribly on and dont plan on sending unless needed (25)
from my research i maybe wrong though, these three schools i think have good financial aid, but not entirely sure about lafayette, please fill me in if you know.
and that is why i want to apply to one of these schools because it seems that comptetive schools have a lot need based aid, but no scholarships which would work to my benefit

and just a reminder, dont really nit pick at my chances but rather the school itsself, i looked a bit into what they usually accept and i think i have a little bit of a chance at any of them, these are my reach schools i know. i’ve just want to apply to one of them for the hell of it to see if i could get in and how much aid i could get

Colgate regularly shows up high on lists of the country’s most beautiful campuses. According to payscale.com, it is also the LAC whose alumni earn the highest average mid-career salaries (among alumni with terminal bachelors degrees).

Just to put in a word for Lafayette: 1) it has very strong psychology and neoroscience programs; 2) it is a 100% of financial need school; 3) the Pocono Mtn. ski areas are 30- 45 minutes north of campus; 4) it has very good career services programs and a strong alumni network. In the interest of full-disclosure my D is a Lafayette junior. Union and Colgate would be great choices also. The only reason my D didn’t look at them was because: 1) Union is too close to home; 2) Colgate was too close to the “snow belt” and; 3) Both schools were too distant from a major city. But those were her personal preferences. The only ones that count with your decision are your own.

My older D went to Colgate. Not only is it an amazing school, but I can personally attest to their giving excellent financial aid packages.

Some people seem to like that Colgate is a little bigger than most LACs. I also consider it a little better known.

thank you all for your responses, after careful consideration i decided to apply to Union, thanks again
