Which college to choose

I am an international student who has to choose amongst these options for CS. UC davis,Irvine,U of pitt,OSU and RIT with 13000 per year scholarship. Finance is not a problem but my main issue is which university will provide me with best CS education. I am not looking for a social atmosphere, I just want to concentrate on studies as I want to pursue a job at a highly reputed university.

Please someone help

Please…help…so many views and no reply

Choose the school that admitted you to your major and is in a location where you can get access to internships and job opportunities. I know that money is not an issue for you, so you say, but having a scholarship that you have to keep up a certain GPA could add stress to your busy student life. I don’t know anything about CS at the schools you have listed, but if you applied to them, I assume you did your homework and would be happy at any of them. Good luck on your decision!

I know that all of the schools listed above have decent CS course but I want to know which option would be the best if you would have choose amongst these options.

They are such different schools that it’s hard to say which is better for YOU. You might take a look at some of the recent threads that deal with UCD versus UCI. All the schools are reputable. RIT is probably the least of them, but they’re all so strong that RIT is still capable of giving you a very good education. the weather is probably worst at RIT and best at UCI. Pitt is a tremendous school in a dynamic city and has a good career center. OSU is a fine but very large school. Given that I know so little about you, I would say you cannot go wrong majoring in CS at any of these schools. If I had to rank them according to my prefs and not according to the strengths of their CS programs alone, I’d say UCD, UCI, Pitt, OSU, RIT.

Well, I am an introvert person and I am not looking for a great social life in college but I am a very sincere towards
my education and that is why I want to choose a college which would maximize my opportunities in CS field.

RIT is predominantly male by a significant margin. the safest bet for you might be UCD, but I’d like to hear from posters who know the west coast better. An introvert at RIT might go a long way–I just don’t have enough data.

Well I am thinking about UCI as it has an individual CS school and is it true that UCI is full with asians. How many international student enroll in UCI.

You must be able to advocate for yourself at both UCI and Davis. The two schools present significant opportunities for CS study (Irvine is the tech hub of Orange County as well as a city of immigrants) but if you are not proactive in approaching professors, signing up for CS clubs/ other tech related activities, you will never know how strong both schools are.

UCI’s weather is fantastic and it’s relatively close to both LA, San Diego, and a few other important SoCal attractions. If you want to see what the US offers, it’s hard to beat Irvine’s location.

But my main doubt is that davis, irvine and pitt are at same level or is there a significant gap amongst these universities.

The CS curriculum will be very similar among all these schools.

Please add Umass amherst with $8000 per year scholarship to the list

No, don’t. See weather above. See best CS education above. See introversion above. UMassAmherst is often a big party school in a cold weather climate. I’d be less certain in my assessment of UMass if you’d told us you’d been accepted to the Honors program, where they have a new dorm and presumably quieter students. The only advantage I can see to UMass is proximity to the 128 technology corridor that surrounds Boston. That is, not much advantage at all in reality. Those firms will also recruit at RIT and once a year or so in soCal.

So, would it be safe to go with UC irvine.

I’m not ignoring you, OP. I’m hoping the west coast gurus will chime in.

Please west coast gurus…help

You seem to want Irvine. I don’t see how you can go wrong by going there. Just do it and don’t look back. Good luck!

Yeah but I want the pros and cons regarding my options

Well, I am also accepted in twin cities and is it superior to UC Irvine.
