Which college? UCLA, UC Irvine, UC davis, or UCSD

I was accepted to UCLA, UCSD, and UC Irvine. UCLA in biomedical engineering, UCSD in Physiology & Neuroscience, and UC Irvine for biology. I applied to UC Davis because my parents have a house in Davis and i wouldn't have to pay for housing but i got put on a waiting list (so i still might be accepted). If i got to UCLA, UCSD, or UCI my parents won't help me pay for college at all because they think i should go to a community college and transfer to Davis after 2 years and that I'm wasting money if i go to southern california for college. What should i do???

Please hurry up and chose. A lot of people are waiting for an open seat.

You first need to sort out the finances. If your parents won’t pay for UCLA/UCSD/UCI, assuming that you want to go to one of them, then you’ll need to see what the actual cost to you would be, and decide where to go. Full freight (in-state) at any of the UCs assuming living on/near campus (not commuting) and no grants/scholarships would be around $100K for 4 years.

If money wasn’t a factor I’d say to first consider the major you think you want and go to one of them that offers your desired major unless you’re not that particular about the major at this point.

You probably know that UCLA is the more well known campus and usually more selective than the other 3 (but apparently not in this particular case).

If UCD ends up offering you admission then try to talk your parents into at least letting you attend all 4 years there. You and they should know that it’s often not 2 years at CC then transfer to 2 years at the 4 year - it sometimes ends up more like 3 and 3.

The other point - it’d be more ideal if you could live in a dorm on-campus the first year to two years rather than in the parent’s house. It’s ideal but not necessary.

Luckily, all of those universities are good.

If you are trying to do it for the cheapest, then UCI is probably cheaper than UCLA and UCSD because of the area surrounding the school, thus will affect the cost of apartments, night life, etc. The order of surrounding area from cheapest to most expensive would be:
UCD, UCI, UCSD, UCLA.

If cost is no worries, then you should pick UCLA or UCSD. UCLA is higher ranked on USNWR than UCSD, if that matters to you at all. UCLA is more urban than UCSD.

BTW, the cost for UCLA, in state tuition, living in the dorms, is about $31K per year. UCI may be cheaper because the dorms probably cost less. Look it up on the individual websites.

Irvine is an extremely wealthy area and has a fairly high cost of living.

I agree that irvine is an expensive/affluent suburb. But la Jolla and Westwood are even more expensive than irvine.
