Which college would fit me?

Hi,
this is my first post on CC so i apologize early if my thread is out of place or what not.
I want to be a Chemical Engineer and was having a but of a struggle finding a good college that would fit my abnormal stats for someone who wants to be an engineer. I was not a bright student. I wasn't lazy I just could never grasp concepts as quickly as I'd like. My stats so far as a Junior in a mediocre high school:

GPA: u/w: 3.2 w: 3.5
APs i have taken with grades ( on a 3 trimester system): APEC (B,B,A) AP art History: (B, A, B) AP Chem: (B, C, A) AP Calc A/b: (C, B, A) APUSH: (B, A, A)

my other classes were Bs and As

I'm taking AP computer science, Ap calc B/C, AP gov, and AP physics B next year.

i really want to be an engineer, but i don't know any college that would take my stats.

My ECs: President of Engineers Society, VP of a charity organization, CSF, will be 4 year cross country and track and field, 320 Community Service hours, Internship at Qualcomm

My SAT: 1st tri: 1590 2nd tri: 2150
ACT: 28

please don't try to discourage me I have my heart set on engineering when many told me to find another major. I just can't i come from a family of engineers as well.

Illinois Institute of Technology i have legacy there.

I'm from California and i can pay OOS without loans if this helps my chances.

Thanks for all the responses sorry this is so long!

Don’t let others discourage you! Do what you want to do, there’s no better satisfaction than accomplishing your goals. Engineering is a semi board field, you can choose electrical, mechanical, petroleum, civil, bio, and computer engineering. You just need to figure out which field you like and want to specialize in.

Pursue YOUR passion and don’t give up.

For Illinois Institute of Technology, you are under the average ACT but you don’t say what your Math score is. That would be more important for an engineering program. As with every other university, IIT looks at your entire application, not just your test scores. The fact that you are challenging yourself with AP courses is a good sign.

I am sure that you can get into an engineering program, more importantly, how will you do once you get in. Engineering is a lot of hard work and if you have good study habits you can make it. There are also some strategies that you can use to succeed if it takes you a bit more effort to “get it”. One of these is to back off from the usual killer course schedule that most engineering programs say is normal to graduate in 4 years and take your time to do well in the courses you take. I suggest this to the undecided engineering majors I advise and S2 was very successful getting his engineering degree in that way. Yes, it took an extra year but the outcome was a good job right away in the middle of the most recent recession.

The fact that you are OOS will not matter at all to private universities and in any case, the first hurdle is meeting the admission requirements. The financial aspects are considered later.
