Which college would you choose?

Which of these three collegs would you choose to go to if you were accepted to all three?

UT Plan II (in state)

UVA (out of state)

Georgetown SFS

UT=University of Texas Austin Honors

Well they’re all very good.

If I were doing law, government, foreign affairs/history then I would choose Georgetown, in part because of its location, and because I would more easily find intern opportunities, create relationships etc. Also I would choose it because DC is a great place to be for 4 years.

If I were looking for a less urban location, but still within a few hours drive of one, and I were doing some of the same areas I mentioned above, I would choose University of Virginia. Also I would choose it because Charlottesville is one of the most beautiful college towns, and because it is within easy reach of great outdoors opportunities.

If I were doing engineering, or science, or premed, I would choose UT, especially if I were in the Honors program. Also I would choose it because Austin is a wonderful city, with a great climate, good music, and two hours away from the Hill Country and horses.

But with all this said you can’t go wrong with any of the choices.

Thanks fogcity! Yes, by UT Plan II, I mean University of Texas-Austin, Plan II Honors (which is an honors major in Liberal Arts).

Anyone else?

Definitely SFS. Great post-grad placement, prestige, academics, etc.

But how about from a social life perspective? Call me shallow, but I find the sorority scene at UT and UVA very appealing.

Do you have to take financial aid into consideration?

SFS. easy choice.

As to the financial aid question, fortunately that’s not a consideration.

if you’re considering a major in anything related to political science/law, definitely Georgetown. even if you’re not, I would still choose Georgetown :)

Gracias, mediopollito. Are you at Georgetown now? Do you think the social life there is as good as at UT-Austin and UVA?

I would honestly choose UVA.

haha no, i’m a senior in high school, and i didn’t apply to Georgetown because I’m not majoring in an academic field. i do have friends that have applied/have been accepted, and they LOVE the environment there! the social life may not be as ‘crazy’ as UT-Austin (actually, it’s definitely not as crazy), but it’s not too bad either.

but isn’t your education more important than social life? :P

^^ Good point, mediopllito…But I’m hopng for both good academics AND social life. UT Plan II is pretty awesome academically…All three schools are!

Decisions, decisions…

Don’t ask random anonymous people on the Internet what they want to make your decision…ask yourself what you want.

UT is easily the best school on the list, no question.

City: Austin is one of the coolest cities in America. The location of the school is perfect, its VERY close to the state capital building and downtown Austin. It’s a big city, 15th largest population in America. The capital building is one of the nicest in America, it’s the biggest state capital. The Austin vibe is very unique. Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World”, so if you love music you’ll love Austin. Austin’s theme is to “Keep Austin Weird” because it supports local businesses. This is a great video of what Austin & campus is like: [YouTube - Lost UT Commercial](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCUkI0P6_20&feature=related)

Campus: The UT campus is beautiful because the architecture is nice and there’s a perfect balance of buildings & nature. I love the campus because there’s so much happening in & around it. There are many restaurants around + a state capital + downtown Austin. The Tower is awesome because its very noticeable and a really neat structure. The Tower looks really nice when we win football games, it lights up orange. Here’s the Tower during graduation (watch the fireworks): [YouTube - University of Texas Commencement 2008](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kna8aP9DnEE)

Girls: When you look up rankings for colleges with the hottest girls you’ll find UT in the top 5 almost every time. The girls here are really hot & since the school is very diverse there are all kinds of good looking ones.

Partying: Not sure if you like to party or not but UT is one of the biggest party schools in America, top 5. If you don’t like partying you can avoid it, no big deal. But if you do like to party, then this place is perfect for you.

Sports: UT is the best sports school in America, no question. #1 baseball team, last year we went to the college baseball world series but lost. #2 football team, we went to the BCS national championship but lost because Colt McCoy got injured . #2 women’s volleyball team, we went to the national championship but lost to Penn State. #15 basketball team. #1 men’s swim team, top 5 women’s swim team. top 25 women’s basketball team. This is the best place for sports.

Atmosphere: It’s a really comfortable place. Austin is also very political. People are mostly liberal, if you’re conservative that’s fine, doesn’t really make a difference.
Weather: During the winter, the weather is great compared to schools in the Northeast. It’s chilly but never unbearable. Spring and Fall have perfect weather, very comfortable temperatures. Summer is the only negative, it gets really hot. Personally, I like the heat but its not for everyone.

Austin, TX Rankings:

Rivalries: It’s also really cool to go to a school with intense rivalries. Oklahoma and Texas A&M are our biggest rivals. Most schools have rivals, but Texas-Oklahoma is one of colleges best rivalries, its rated as a top 5 rivalry by most people. It’s just really fun to hate a school, especially when you know your school’s better :)

Gaming: #1 best gaming college <a href=“Gaming and Video Game News & Reviews | Engadget”>Gaming and Video Game News & Reviews | Engadget;

Best school ever

Georgetown, definitely. Georgetown SFS, definitely twice over!
