Which college???

Hey there,
I am from a non ocean bearing state, which makes me sad because since I have vacationed in Cozumel and snorkeled various times, I discovered my love for Marine Biology. And I have done my research, and this is what I want to do. I have looked all throughout the U.S for colleges that are great for a Marine Biology major and I have come across Hawaii. Considering they have the best oceans around with a diverse population, I would love it there. I am the adventurous type, and yes, I would travel 3,000 miles to go there. I have looked at the following three schools. : HPU UHM and UHH (university of hawaii at Hilo). From my research, I know they all have pros and cons, but all of them have very good marine biology programs. HPU is split up all over the island, which i dont want because I already dont know where I am going. UHM, Ive read from varous people, does not have good dorms and has a high sexual assult/crime rate, but is right in the hustle and bustle of Honolulu which is what I would love. UH Hilo, I understand is on the top of the island, and is a little more quiet, which is fine, but not what I pictured being a good party/life scene for college anywhere in the US. I gueses what im asking is for someone from Hawaii or from one of these colleges, to tell me facts about them, which one I should go to, should I even go this far away for college, and are these colleges worth my time and money??? Thank you so much

have you run the net price calculator at each school? can you afford each of them?

I probably would be able to afford UHM or UHH the most

You’ll recognize that you didn’t answer my question. A school is either affordable or not.

I’m not being nasty. I’m trying to get you to realize how important affordability is to your education. You cannot go to any college if you cannot afford it, and it is better that you confront this fact of life now then later. That is, I don’t want to perpetuate any magical thinking on your part.

Run the net price calculator found on the Financial Aid page of each school. Talk to your parents about what they can afford to give you each year. It’s time to get real, OP.
