<p>To those of you who turned down Yale, Stanford, Princeton, Brown, Berkeley, Columbia, MIT,Cal Tech, etc for UCI,…Were you actually accepted to these colleges?</p>

<p>UCI and UCR were the only two schools I got into. I did reject UCSB and UCD’s waitlist offers though. I also got into Cal Poly Pomona, Long Beach, and Fullerton.</p>

<p>Hahaha, naw, ofc not. Well, I’ll be honest, there are people here I know who did turn down colleges likes Brown and Columbia and other colleges of that stature, but mostly due to the fact that

  1. Double the money or even more that you have to pay, depending on how much money the school’s giving you as well for scholarship
  2. Undergraduate doesn’t really matter that much compared to graduate school so there’s no reason to spend 200k to take semiuseless classes for 4 years
  3. UCI is not a bad school at all and among public schools, it does hit top 10 (or maybe it’s top 11),
    and yeah, I’ll have to say, I wouldn’t be that surprised if people did turn down colleges like MIT and such since the prestige of the college isn’t all that matters for everyone when they apply…</p>
