which colleges do NOT look at freshmen grades?

Hi all. I'm sorry of this thread has been posted already, but i would like to know which colleges don't consider freshmen grades for admission. So far i have all the UCs, UMich, and Princeton.

I have this dilemma right now because i had almost straight Bs freshmen year, but then straight As sophmore and junior year, save one B in 10th grade. I'm just wondering what school i should be looking at.

according to fuzzylogic, the majority of public colleges do not look at 9th grade grades. is that true?

thanks for your time!

You're fine; there's no reason to apply only to schools that don't look at freshman grades. Anyways, Stanford doesn't look at freshman grades. But I don't see why you're having this big dilemma. I mean, there's nothing you can do to change your past grades, so just move on and keep the grades up. The majority of colleges know that for some students, adjusting to high school can be difficult.

does this mean they will recalculate your GPA?

Good question, I'd like to find this out as well.

lol ive been wondering this also.
my freshman grades were basically straight Bs too., but then they improved(=

but in general, for those colleges that DO look at freshman grades, how much weight do they put on them? as much as they do for soph/jr? or less?

I know for a fact that they don't take your freshman year into as much consideration as your primary years - soph and jr.
But it would be good to know which colleges take your freshman year into account.

look you show an upward trajectory. you could even address this is your essay...that you learned how to study or developed greater focus.

Does UPENN and Northwestern look at freshamn grades?

i know UPENN furshure looks at freshman grades.
not sure about Northwestern
i tried to look up this info on specific college websites, but they don't directly state it.. =/

i know this was from some time ago, but I still need to know! (i bet the OP does too, haha)

soo..bumpbump~

edit__
ohh yeah.. i found out from other threads that John Hopkins don't look at freshman grades either.

I've always wondered how admissions officers can avoid looking at freshmen grades if you send them your transcript....

sup: i've been wondering the same thing.

they SEE it, but then they calculate your 10-11 or 10-12 GPA into some formula where they consider your admission.

But thing is, if they see a bad GPA, won't they already have a bad impression on the rest of your application?

^Yeah that's what I was trying to get at

Even the schools that don't use freshman grades when recalculating GPA look at rank, so I've never understood the benefit.
