Which colleges have health care including prescription writing available on the weekend?

U of South Carolina. Weekend hours, weekend scrips, even weekend appts to accommodate class schedules.

I would write the Williams Dean about this. Trinity provides links on the website to students for area urgent care facilities and links to location of nearest hospital ER. As adults it is the child’s responsibility to access these if need be. And you would be wise to have a signed HIPPA on file because hospitals won’t talk to you if you call.

Providing 24/7 health coverage for minor ailments is likely to increase that $70k COA even more

I think this is an interesting question. I came down with mono my first semester of college (fall ‘16). We had an on campus doctor, but she was there less than five days a week. Going to Einstein Hospital in North Philly at 18 was a memorable experience.

Denison has an on-campus infirmary open 24/7, with beds for students who need to be watched/isolated. A staff physician is on campus Mon-Fri, regular working hours, plus nursing staff during those hours. After hours and weekends, there is always a nurse on duty. I don’t know about prescription writing after hours – it hasn’t come up for our family but I would think the nurse could communicate with doctor after hours and arrange for it to get called in. There is a CVS in town with a pharmacy. We found the presence of an actual infirmary where a student can go 24-7 for emergencies very reassuring.

If my kid had a true emergency, of course I’d send him to the ER. But for nonurgent after hour things like ear infections if the college doesn’t have a doc on site, easiest and least expensive to use one of the video doc visit apps like Doctor on Demand.
