Do all of these let you take comp sci as a major? I went looking and they all have “computer science departments” but I’m not entirely sure if they offer CS as a major. (I apologize for lacking the “google” skills, but I just can’t keep up with this generation).
Maybe your daughter can look at potential CS schools herself? I’m sure her google skills will not be lacking. And please make sure she has safeties/matches in mind as well.
OMG this is like the least amount of research done for a question on CC evah.
Go to the library and use books if you can’t google.
Fiske Guide to Colleges or others.
Those colleges are very very unlikely for her…even if she has a 4.0/1600 SAT.
Use the Supermatch tool on the left.
Before you do, think about:
GPA
SAT/ACT scores
Net Cost - how much can you afford?
Number of Undergraduates - big school, small school?
Faculty Student Ratio
%of students that live on campus
How big is the department for your major? If you are majoring in something that only has a couple of professors, that does not bode well.
Housing- do they offer all 4 years? freshman only?
Urban/rural/suburban
Is this a commuter school? (do students go home on weekends)
Surrounding area - what is the nearby town/amenities like?
Transportation - how would you get home
AP Credits - can you get credit for AP tests you have taken
Male/Female ration
Greek life - what % of students are in greek life
Parking
Diversity
Safety
Sports
Jobs - what happens to seniors after they graduate
Internships - depending on your major, is it easy to get internships?
…and whatever makes sense for you
