Which Colleges should I apply to in the midwest?

So, I used to have a pretty solid list of schools I wanted to apply to, but now Im not as sure anymore. I want to stay in the midwest, MN,IA,IL,WI area at least for undergraduate.
My intended major is biology or possibly premed, although I do feel an affinity for prelaw or poly-sci.

So here are some stats for you.

Gender: Male
State: MN
Ethnicity: Brazilian/african/white
GPA: 3.4
ACT1) C- 29 Writing- 11
ACT2)C- 29 Writing- 12
SAT: still have to take but because of how my strengths lie Im expecting 2000+
Rank:

EC's:
4 years speech team + captain+ scholarship recipient+ numerous wins in toughest district
4 years working with the local cable access TV station+ recruited to anchor for news show for the city.
3 years improv club + captain/co-founder/organizer
2 years in policy debate (JV/varsity)
2 years theatre company

Volunteer:
-Chaplain Aide to my father, significant hours committed
-Breast Cancer awareness group+ fundraiasing, led parades
-Various participation in big fundraising events

Reccs
-Speech coach
-Biology teacher/AP stats teacher
-AP english teacher

Essays: I know Im an excellent writer (not to toot my own horn too much, its a talent of mine) So essays not a probe in the least.

I will need financial aid.

So any schools you could suggest to me in the midwest would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance!

The top LACs in that area would be a reach with your GPA but its worth investigating
Grinnell (IA)
Carleton (MN)
Macalester (MN)

These wouldn’t be as reachy
Augustana (IL)
Knox (IL)

i’m not familiar with any other schools in that area besides the state schools

What kind of school are you looking at? I only really researched big state schools. With your stats, you’re looking at:

University of Iowa
University of Minnesota
University of Missouri
University of Kansas
University of Indiana

I guess Wisconsin and Illinois are considerations, but they’d be reach. For you, it’d be easiest to get into Kansas, then Iowa, then Indiana, then Mizzou and then Minnesota.

For LACs also look at St Olaf and Luther. they can offer pretty good merit aid but you will need to keep on top of the scholarship dates.

thanks a bunch for the suggestions.

Have you looked into Creighton University in Omaha? I know it is in Nebraska but it is just across the river from Iowa. Its premed program is said to be good.

You may be qualified to compete for some of their merit scholarships.
