Hi Everyone!
My friend mentioned CC to me a few days ago, so I decided to make an account! As a second semester junior, I have been contemplating which colleges to apply to next year. I was hoping if I put some of my information in this post, you guys could potentially help me start looking in the right direction :)

GPA (UW): 3.38
SAT score: I am taking my first one in a few weeks
SAT Subject Tests: I will be taking the Biology, Literature, and Chinese ones in the near future.
AP Test: I will be taking the Biology one this semester as well.
Ethnicity: Asian
Location SF Bay Area, California
Fun Fact: I have lived in about 12 US states, 15 cities. I moved A LOT as a child :)

Course Load:

Freshman: Literature/Writing, Biology, Oral Composition (Speech), PE 9, Principles of Business, Geometry, Chinese 1

Sophomore: Algebra 2, Media Assistant, Chemistry Honors, World Literature, World History, Dance, Chinese 2

Junior: American Literature, American History, AVID Tutor, Chinese 3, Pre-Calculus, Journalism, AP Biology

Senior (tentative): Contemporary Literature, Physiology, AP Government (1 semester), Economics (1 semester), Journalism, AVID Head Tutor, Chinese 4 Honors

EC's (all for 2+ years):
- Nationally accredited school newspaper (Section Editor)
- Teen publication (Officer)
- Future Practicing Physician's Network (Officer)
- Medical Explorers Post (Secretary)
- Link Leader
- Volunteer at local hospital
- Peer Counselor

Tentative Major: Neuroscience

I understand that compared to most students here on CC, my GPA is on the lower side. I also have not taken too many AP/Honors courses. However, my high school is one of the top ranked public high schools in the country. Even the regular courses are EXTREMELY difficult. Despite this, I wanted to make a change in my community, which is so uptight and hell-bent on defining people by their GPA/SAT score. As a peer counselor, link leader, and our school's teen publication officer, I have strived to make high school an enjoyable place for everyone. This is why I feel like I can contribute a lot to the campus of any college that I go to :)

So far I have a few "reach" schools in mind. Personally, I would really love to go to Duke (they have a great neuroscience program, and I used to live near Raleigh, NC!), but I know exactly how difficult it is to get admitted. Maybe I have a chance at ED? You guys can let me know about that, as well as other schools (safeties, matches, and reaches) that I should apply to/have a legitimate chance at!

On a last note, thanks to anyone who replies! I really appreciate it!!
