Which colleges should I look at?

Want to go into engineering at a school on the east coast. Cornell is the school I want to get into most, not sure if my application is strong enough.

GPA- 4.0 W 3.65 UW
SAT- 1950 (1350 2 part)
ACT- 31

EC- Honor Society
Had a job for 2 years
Soccer
Various clubs within my school
Volunteering at the local church

SUNYS, how much can you afford

Should be able to afford most schools.

You appear qualified for many schools. The University of Rochester might work well for you. Union College is another option, depending on what type of engineering you are interested in.

My D had almost same exact test scores as you do (both ACT & SAT R + M), but a lot of leadership & excellence in her EC’s & very strong letters of Rec. Cornell was her dream school, she applied ED there & luckily was accepted. She was also applying to U of Roch & SUNY Geneseo, which we were pretty confident she’d be accepted at both. Which college within Cornell do you plan to apply to?

College of Engineering at Cornell, does applying ED increase your chances of getting in? U of Rochester is also a school I’m thinking about.

ED would improve your chances. If you are male, honestly your scores do not give you much of a chance, for males COE is one of the hardest admits at Cornell. Even if female you are probably going to have to raise your scores some & be in top 10% of your graduating class with a very rigorous course load.

Cornell will be a reach for you. Some other colleges you might look into: URochester, RIT, SUNY Stony Brook, RPI

A few ideas: Lehigh, Lafayette, Union, URochester, Bucknell,

Seconded Lehigh. Amazing school
