I'm thinking of going to school somewhere other than the US for financial reasons-how do different countries play out in terms of tuition/cost of board?

Try Canada.

McGill, UBC, U of Toronto, etc.

What highhopes said. I go to U of Toronto so I can definitely vouche for it.

I don’t know about the tuition, but in Australia you would get a work permit that allows up to 20 hours each week on or off campus. This means that if you live frugally, you should be able to meet your living expenses.

pen name. EASY answer for this question. Canada. trust me.

Other than some top US universities, and oxford and cambridge.. canada has the best universities in the world. U of T ranked top 30 world wide in every ranking i found so far. Mc Gill really well respected internationally.. UBC very all rounded university. And if you are looking for specific things like Medicine then McGill… if business then Schulich at York or Richard Ivy at Queens. It is also much more affordable than the US.
