Which CSU has the best communications program?

(My very first post--pretty exciting! Haha.) Anyway, I'm going to be a senior this fall and I want to have a few schools that I know I'd like to attend. As of right now, I'd like to major in Communications, so in your opinion, which CSU offers the best progran for my planned major?

Welcome, CaG(iii)rl. I don’t have a third source to cite for this per se, but I’ve personally heard some good things about Sacramento State’s Comm program. I remember speaking to some folks that mentioned the school was beefing up it’s business programs and were taking the comm dept as a tag along in this “improvement” to help that . . . kind of like a cross dept collaboration to help each other really. Not sure if that sounds interesting to you or not though.

Do you have any other criteria like cost, location, etc?

Oh, that sounds very interesting, turtlerock. Thank you for that! As far as criteria, well, anywhere warm would be preferable! I visited Fullerton last month; I loved the sunshine and I was pretty impressed with the school itself, except 36,000 students is a bit too crowded for me, so a student population lower than that would be nice.

Yeah, pretty much any CSU is going to have upwards of 20-25k student bodies.

Is there a particular field you wanted to break into with a Comm degree? The CSUs with the “better” comm depts have dedicated facilities for Radio, TV, Cinema, Journalism, Broadcasting, etc. Fullerton seems to be beefed up on these facilities too. You can check out the list by each CSU here: [Campuses - CSU Entertainment Industry Initiative](http://blogs.calstate.edu/entertainment/index.php/campuses)

Hopefully that can direct you if you had one of those types of industries in mind.

Not every CSU is going to have a larger 20-25k student body. I go to Sonoma State and our student body is around 8k. We have a good comm department, and it is a more popular major here.

Pretty much - meaning not all. That’s what I typed.
