Currently finishing up my college apps, and I’ve spent the last two hours researching but I can’t decide which CSU’s to apply to? So far I’ve finished my application for Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU, and CSU Long Beach. Now i’m deciding between Chico and Fullerton, but I have no idea which to pick. Which is a better school if I’m coming in as a freshman and planning to live on campus? How about my other 3 choices that I’ve put up? Is there another school I should consider?
No sure about your Stats, but Cal Poly SLO/CSU Fullerton/CSU Northridge (Accounting)/SJSU/Chico State are a few others to consider. I believe all CSU’s require Freshman to live on campus. If you want a high percentage of students living on campus, then Cal Poly SLO/SDSU and Chico state would be top from this list.
CSU gpa is a 3.44 and I have a 1640 for SAT score. I’m scared to apply for SLO, because I heard it’s impossible to change majors, and if there’s any chance I decide to opt out of business, I don’t want to be miserable. Not looking to apply to CSUN because I live very close to it and I want to slightly explore. Would applying to SJSU be better than Long Beach?
I think Long Beach is a better option in regards to business, but your stats probably make LB a slight Reach where SJSU would be a Match.
Did you calculate your Eligibility index? (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR).
For Long Beach, you want around a 3900 to be competitive, for SDSU around 4100. For SJSU, an EI of 3400-4200 (depending upon concentration) will get you in.
It is not impossible to change majors at SLO, just difficult, but it would a Reach based on your Stats.
CSU Fullerton looks like a Match.
My eligibility index comes out to a little bit over 3,900, so fullerton would be better than Chico?
Both schools are very good. Much will depend upon the “fit”. If you like the small town atmosphere (Chico) or more of a suburban area (Fullerton). Apply to both and see what happens. Always better to have more choices than less.
Thank you!
Following- Similar situation only I am an undergrad transfer from OCC. Already accepted to CPP as of today, but do not have much info on their Business College yet. I had choose it as my “safety school”.
What other schools were you looking into?
