I'm a senior in high school that will begin college in my local community college as an art major and I plan to transfer to either SDSU or CSUF. The one I'll be transfering to depends on which one has the better art department. Advice? Opinions? Especially from those who are probably in these schools now?

my kid’s summer friend is at CSUF
since HS was an art magnet, it have been underwhelming.
to top that, there are not enuff parking spots and really no other way to get to school.
could have gone to any art schools gotten in but $ was an issue.
doing time to save money, then try transfer into better school next year or so.
is that ^so for you, too?
I hear good thing about connection of CSUs UCs and CCs there. you can “really” transfer and bring all credits, is that right?
just that, look carefully when and what you’d be doing/ what classes are offered with or without pre req. after transferred in and could you really able to sign up for all classes you want since massive students body and budget cut and all?
there always a concern going public route, any states/schools.
It really depends on money money money…

Bears is correct, Fullerton has been hit hard by budget cuts. Well that plus they let in way to many kids.

Sdsu is a much better choice for art. 10x better.

Also look at UC Irvine! Just about to open their beautiful new art building. Solid program.

Best,
Wheaty (from my phone. How cool!)

Here’s a little more from the San Diego State website:

Fine Arts
- SDSU’s School of Art, Design and Art History is one of the top fine arts programs in the nation (No. 58) according to U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2009.”
- SDSU’s graduate program in jewelry and metalwork is ranked No. 5 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2009.”
- SDSU ranked No. 6 among visual and performing arts programs nationwide for bachelors degrees awarded to Hispanics according to Top 100 Colleges for Hispanics from Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, May 2010.

This is all much better than CSUF.

Still better is UC Irvine. Just as easy to transfer into by the way.
