Which decision will you open first?

Most of us will be getting the majority of our decisions during a very tight timeframe around March 31st/April 1st, which means multiple decisions becoming available at once. How will you open yours? And in which order? Your safety first, your reach first, first come first opened?

I myself will be opening my decisions in ascending order (of preference), but the problem is that my two safeties will be releasing their decisions on April 1st, and my reach/matches on March 31st, so I'll have to open my matches first, then wait for my safeties, and then finally my reaches. Hopefully this way I won't be devestated by the bad news of rejection and I'll feel good knowing that I have acceptances in my pocket before I face the match/reach rejections.

Open via internet. Whichever comes first ASAP!!

If I get more than one decision by mail on one day, I think I start with the the small envelopes and and finish with the large (if I have both, that is, which I hope!).

Internet first, then mail. Whatever is on top of the stack gets opened first. So the mailman gets to decide.

whatever comes first of course! I haven’t heard from any of my 18, and the majority of them happen to be march 27 - apr 1. via email, since snail mail comes exactly one month later.

definitely first come first serve

eek, i’d rather open the ones i might not have gotten into first, i think. but why would you wait when the decision’s right in front of you!! definitely open whatever gets to you first.

yea, I plan on opening them as I get them.

if i get several on one day, i would probably open then in order from most likely to get into to least likely to get into. that way, I will have some good news before some possibly devastating news.

First come, first served…I think I’ll end up opening my Duke decision first (I think this one will come first) before Columbia

But if they come at the same time, I’ll probably open Columbia first.

i’ll feel for the thicker envelope and open that first. :D

Surely it’s better to open reaches first! Imagine opening your ultimate safety first and finding out you’ve been rejected- then turning to a pile of letters from better schools…

does it really matter? It’s not as if changing the sequence will change your acceptances or rejections.

I agree on opening reaches first for a different reason - if it’s a “no” from your reaches, you have the rest of the letters [acceptances] to comfort you.

small envelopes first…

then large ones to comfort me! :)

Haha, I have no choice because of how mine come out.

American: This coming week (came out 13th last year)… Then Northeastern from the 15th on (they release in waves, it’s weird).

Bryn Mawr comes next, around Easter, and then Vassar a couple days later. Colgate and Grinnell arrive near April 1st.

It’s kind of nice, because I think AU and BMC are the most likely to accept me- the rest are sort of up for grabs, so hopefully I don’t lose hope halfway through.

The ones I care most about are sort of in the middle, so I might have a cushion if something goes wrong.

I’m hearing back from SIX schools on April 1st out of the twelve i applied to

the three schools that get priority are Pomona, Carleton, and Haverford, and the rest it goes small envelopes first big ones last

Waiting by the phone for the next month, hoping it rings…

Hey, not all small envelope are harbingers of bad news. My ED acceptance was in just a thin, regular envelope.

I don’t care. As long as I know where I got in.

I don’t care…whichever comes first, mine all aren’t coming on the same day and I won’t be at the place where they’re coming when they come (…boarding school). I have someone checking my mail for me, so I’ll hear about whichever school they decide to tell me about first.
