I have visited CAL just a few weeks ago and I like the ambience. Me relatives who mostly live in Texas are all telling me to go to Rice. I would be honest that I have not heard of Rice before but I now know that it's such a big name school in the US. If I get accepted to study economics or business in two schools, which do you think is the better school, in ALL aspects -- reputation, career after college, etc, etc...

btw, I want to work in Asia perhaps in Hong Kong, Singapore, Manila, etc, after college..

Both are fine schools. In my experience, Haas and Berkeley in general enjoy a solid reputation and recognition in Asia. While Rice is relatively unknown over there, it rules in Texas, especially around Houston and the energy industry. IMO, brand names matter and can open doors for you (think of the alumni network). However, pick the one that offers you the best educational value and the undergraduate experience where you can thrive.

If you want to work in Asia i suggest CAL, Rice is very unknown anywhere else in the World other then Texas, and the US. Are you a graduate student because Rice doesn't have an undergraduate business program. CAL on the other hand HASS is known to be the top 5 undergraduate business school in the US, but you have to transfer into HASS your junior year. CAL has a very good reputation and many careers open because of CAL. Since you want to study in Asia, I suggest CAL.

Go to Berkeley if you want to have the best education and the best in college life experience. Rice is fine, but Berkeley is obvioulsy a notch above Rice in prestige, opportunities after college, etc, etc. And if you plan to work in Asia someday, the more your marketability will increase with a Berkeley degree.
