Which dorm community should I reside in?

Im in a deadlock tie between morrison community vs. hinton james community vs. ehringhaus community. Out of all the three, which one is the best one it terms of dorm size, air conditioning, and social scene?
Thanks

p.s I have 3 roommates and we want to stick together.

Morrison is basically impossible to get into. Apparently if you list suitemates on your housing app, you're automatically put into Hinton James.

It will be a total of 4 suitemates.
So its just hinton james? aren't the suites in hj 6 man suites and freshies arent allowed to live there?

A lot of freshmen end up in hojo

morrison is better since it was just recently renovated but like thatsfunny said you might have a hard time getting it.

Literally nearly every sophomore I know will be in Morrison next year, so yeah, it may be a bit difficult to get. You're nearly guaranteed to end up in Hinton James if you want to keep your suite together.

agreed with heathergee. Heck, even some of my sophomore friends that wanted Morrison or even North campus ended up in a directional dorm they did not want. Don't put Morrison down as a choice.

p.s. Hinton James > Ehaus. It's bigger, not as loud as Craige (which imo is so freaking loud that you can sometimes hear them from across the street...), and has more rooms with AC.

how about the following:
Manning east community
Manning west community
Carmichael community.

Don't even bother with Carmichael. It's basically filled already with people in learning communities, sophomores/upperclassmen, and athletes.

I know because most people I know put it as their first choice...and I know 3 people total who actually got in. So yeah, Carmichael will be super competitive.

Manning East and West are pretty good options. Still probably competitive to get, but I'd prefer one of them over the other South Campus dorms.

In case you're curious, freshmen basketball players will be living in Horton, which is in the Manning East community.

Danny, What do you WANT in those three areas...social scene, a/c, dorm size? If you have 4 people together and want to stay together I think the only place you can go is a suite, the suites are 4 rooms...they do have 4 single rooms in HJ if you are really lucky....or 2 double rooms in a 4 double suite....good luck.

now I hear that HJ has supersuites just like morrison

is cobb ok for frosh?

Cobb has tons of first years in it and is really lively.

cloying - what do you mean lively? did you live in cobb this year? basically i'd like a little more detail about cobb since i might be staying there next year ... is it nice? spacious? in a good location? etc...

so cloying, in your opinion a first-year living in cobb is not disadvantaged by not having lived on south

??? (thanks by the way cloying,u r always sooo helpful)

Our S lived in Cobb this year as a Freshman and really enjoyed it, in fact he will be living there again next year. As for the Dorm itself it is recently renovated, fully air conditioned and the rooms and public spaces are nice and well maintained. He thought the location was great. Close to almost all of his classes as well as Lenior , the Pit, UL etc. Also the walk to Franklin Street is much shorter. There seemed to be plenty of Freshman in the Dorm(although perhaps a disproportionate number were Honor students and
Robertson Scholars). They had a number of social activities throughout the year and he made many friends.

With all that being said, it is quieter and less raucous then the South Campus Dorms and there are less Freshman students overall. For our S who is a bit more reserved it was a better fit. It is all Hall Style most rooms are doubles with a small number of triples. If a slightly quieter environment would fit for you Cobb is an excellent choice, but if your looking for a much more social and party atmosphere then South campus is the place to go. If you have any other questions about Cobb PM us. Our S will be done with finals and home soon so he can answer them as well.

Cobb just has a ton of events in it. The rooms are a good size and because it has a lot of freshmen it's not isolated. The location is pretty good for north - though probably the farthest away from classes of all the north campus dorms (still way closer than south campus).

I think there's a misconception. Living on north campus doesn't mean you're isolated from freshmen, and in fact a lot of my friends come hang out on north, but there are definitely north campus freshmen and south campus freshmen. I don't mean that there's a rivalry, it's just a proximity thing. North campus freshmen eat at lenoir and hang out on Franklin more, stuff like that. I'm so glad I lived on north, but wouldn't discourage anybody from living on south because of the volume of first years there. I live in Kenan and am recontracting for the same room next year.
