Does anyone know which dorm fits transfer student more? also social science studies?

I’d suggest “no dorm” if possible. Many 2nd, 3rd year students move out of the dorms by the time they become juniors or seniors. I have made plans to live in a condo less than 1 mile from campus (Laurelhurst) - right on the bus route to campus and the UW village.

A lot of Junior/Seniors live in Steven’s Court apartments.
Only 2 of the buildings are reserved for freshmen
2 of the buildings you have to be at least 20 in order to live in them (So usually junior and up)
and there are about 3 buildings that anyone can live in.

Do you must live in dorm for a year if you decide to? or you may move after the quarter ends

I’m in family housing, so I’m month to month…

For residence halls, I did a quick search on their website. It looks like you can leave at the end of the quarter.
[UW Housing and Food Services > Housing Options](<a href=“Housing & Food Services - UW HFS”>Housing & Food Services - UW HFS)

Hopefully a non-family housing person (someone living in the residence halls) can confirm it

Do transfer students have to live on campus for a quarter? Or can we start out living off-campus?

You can start out off campus, then switch into a dorm. However, this means that you have to wait to see if there are any open spots and if housing can accommodate for you at the start of that quarter.

I mean I want to live off-campus and stay off-campus. I just want to make sure there is no residency requirement for transfer students.

Oh, sorry about that! There is no residency requirement. Some students go all their time at UW not living on campus. I doubt they would have enough space for everyone if it became a requirement, even for a single quarter :)

Cool, thanks for the info! :)
