Which Dorm is the best?

I’ve been accepted to Baylor for a while now, and I just today put in a deposit and need to fill out my housing application, so I have a few questions.

-Can I still apply for housing if I’m not 100% sure I’m going to end up at Baylor? (The deposit is refundable up to May 1st.) Am I bound if I get a housing assignment?
-Which hall is the best out of these three? Collins, North Russell, or South Russell. I guess all the dorms are gone since time is already up.
-Do those three halls have community bathrooms? I’d rather have a suite with my own shower, lol.

Yes, you can apply for housing even if you're not sure you're going to end up there. That's what I did, anyway. I'm sure they'd rather you not put down the deposit if you're not sure, but as its refundable until May 1, there'll be no consequences if you don't end up going there. (Check the housing department to make sure everything's refundable, as I know for upperclassmen, once you sign a housing agreement, you're bound. However, I do know that at least when I was a senior in high school, I did what you're thinking of, though I did end up going to Baylor after all.)

Collins, North Russell and South Russell are all dorms, so I don't know what you mean by the "dorms are gone". You can look at the dimensions of the rooms and such on the housing website to see which is the best. There are stereotypes about all three dorms, but really all types of girls go in each one. Actually, the best places to live are probably the LLCs, such as the Honors one, so look into those and see if any are appealing.

Collins, North Russell, and South Russell all have community bathrooms. Most of the LLCs do not, so if that's a big issue, look into the LLCs.

Definitely apply for housing. It really is refundable until May 1 no questions asked, other than perhaps one birthed of vague disappointment.

If you want actual NICE dorms you have to spring for Brooks or North Village. The LLC's are decently nice to (Kokornot and Memorial) and we have suite bathes for the most part (3 or 4 people share a bathroom). Between the Russell's and Collins it depends on your personality more than anything else. If you're more the girly-girl who is likely to rush for a sorority (or don't mind there being around quite a few who do) go for Collins. The Russell's are really actually one building and I have yet to hear significant differences between them. I agree with Bookaddict, Living & Learning Communities are the way to go.

Hey guys...do you know if the Alexander Honors Dorms have singles suites (as in like dorms for one person only).

Freshman can only stay in Brooks or North Village if they are a part of one of the LLCs that live there.

RTgrove123 - Yes, Alexander has single rooms, but I don't know how many (they could be all filled up by now).

Brooks is NOT an LLC. Brooks only requires an extra application that is available on the Campus Living and Learning site. There are none of the required courses or projects that are involved in the LLC's. However, I would highly reccomend Brooks, because of the fact that it is a new building (second year in use) and that it doesn't cost much more than the other dorms. Plus, private bathrooms, 2 am visiting hours (meaning guys can be in girl's rooms and vice versa til 2 am, unlike the Russels and Collins where they have to be out by 10). Also, there are study rooms, a library, and it's just plain quiet here, so you're not going to have to walk across campus to find somewhere to do your homework. Or, if you're interested in meeting people, there is ALWAYS a group of people downstairs playing pool or watching TV. Also, it's NOT too late to apply, I applied after the deadline last year and am living here now :-D
Oh, and our dining hall looks like the great hall from Harry Potter. I think it's neat. haha

North Village is much the same way, except that they have kitchens and free laundry. However it's nearly impossible to get into unless you are an NCAA athlete or an engineering major.

Kokernot has been recently Renovated, and is where the LLC's and the ROTC students are housed. I haven't been in there so I can't say much about it. Though, I think that it's got community baths.

South and North Russel are pretty much the same, even in the same building. The advantages there are that you have a sink with a cabinet in your room and it's slightly nicer than Collins. Community Baths, no dining hall.

The advantage to Collins is that there is a good dining hall downstairs and if you're going greek, it's usually the place to be, it just seems like thats where all the sorority girls live. However, people in sororities live elsewhere too. Oh, and community baths. And it's 6 stories.

Then, there is Memorial, the women's honor's dorm. Takes another application that is friggin long (which is why I didn't apply. too much work), but the rooms are decent and you share a bathroom with only one other room, sort-of a jack and jill style thing. And it has a good dining hall too. But you have to already be in the honors program to apply.

So, I'd reccomend Brooks out of all the Freshmen dorms, but if you don't want to do the extra app, Personally I'd reccomend one of the Russels, because they just seem a little nicer to me, and less smelly than Collins.

I was curious about Brooks. This will be my freshman year, and the only reason I haven't applied to Brooks yet is because I want to know more people in my class(it's why I put Penland down) and have a good time.

I think I'm going to app to Brooks though. If I get accepted...am I forced to go there?
