Unit 1,2,3, Foothill, Stern, Bowles?
er…i didn’t go to Calday, so from what i hear, foothill, stern, and bowles are far away from campus and on a hill. But they are more quiet and roomy.
Units 1,2,3 are near the campus, but smaller. I think i’ll live in one of the units b/c i think you can make more friends there. So…which unit is the best? Unit 3 is the oldest??
Someone i know from berkeley said that they renovated unit 1 recently, so its the best and the food is good. hm…too bad i didn’t actually get to see the dorms…
so where are you guys going to live??

I'm going to live in Foothill because unlike most people, I like a quiet environment. However, I had lunch there and it was HORRIBLE. I've tasted a lot of crappy food in my life but nothing like Foothill's inedible RICE and hardened PANCAKES

Are all teh units pretty much teh same? I visited unit 2, and liked it, and decided I want unit 3 cuz it's closest. So is there any major difference between unit 3 and unit 2, or can i just go ahead and pick unit 2?

my preferences:

unit 3 double
unit 2 double
unit 1 double
unit 2 double mini-suite
unit 1 double-mini suite

hey...is there construction going on at Unit 1? It says so on berkeley web page. I don't want nose and dust...

food...

clark kerr > crossroads > foothill > unit 3

i had some foothill friends who got really sick of the food and ended up buying burritos, nachos, sandwiches, and smoothies with their points/swipes. the food at the on-campus stores is usually decent.

i like foothill food..............you guys just get all the wrong stuff to eat....whenever i'm there, theres lotsa good stuff to eat

oh btw arnold, dont bother with mini-suites, cuz they're for continuing students only =P

i'm going for unit 3 (its right across the street from kips!)

Foothill food is devil food.

The kitchen is obviously at war with the students >.<

I had a single helping and threw up about an hour later in the car >.<

tellefsen hall..the band house

probably a double in Unit 1, maybe Freeborn

Does anyone know anything about the substance free hall (Freeborn)?...the type of people there, the activities they organize, etc.

personally, i thought the people were really cool and friendly. my host was an RA there and she told me that the people choose freeborn for a reason. therefore, it's an interesting environment and if you're not into the partying scene, it's a good place to be.

hurrydecember: could you PM me again? i deleted your last one by accident.

The Units for me. 2, 1, and 3 in that order. I think I'm going there on Saturday so I'll just the other units out, since I've only seen Unit 3. If I get a really crappy lottery number, I'll end up with Clark Kerr which is supposed to be good.

Anyone know if construction is still going on in Units 1 and 2? Will it be done by the Fall semester?

if its all ramdom, does that mean that i have a chance to get foothill/stern?? b/c i want to live in the units....so even if i list all my preferences for units, there is a chance that i might get foothill/stern?
that will really suck...

Unit 1 and 2 construction is for all intents and purposes done. It looks really nice with all the new augmentations.

Foothill is nice (and it's where I live!), and during midterm seasons, it's convenient to have a quiet place to study. However, generally most of your friends will be on the Southside, and I personally spend gobs of time down in Unit 1 (typically Freeborn). The folks in Freeborn are a quirky bunch, less interested in making a cool impression and such, but they're still pretty active in social events. They've had their snowboarding trips and other stuff. I would suggest most people to lean towards Unit 1.

There are a few people who don't get any of their choices (I believe DMCWhiz123 ended up in Clark Kerr even though he didn't want it), but most people generally get what they want. Even if they don't, I hear that they generally end up liking where they live.

And yes, Foothill food is pretty bad.

oh btw arnold, dont bother with mini-suites, cuz they're for continuing students only =P

dmcwhiz123, where did you get that information from? The housing application does not indicate thatthe mini-suites are for upper div. / transfer students as is indicated for other housing options.

they are not specifically for upperdivision students, but they do get priority over freshmen. I don't think many freshmen get those places.

i went for doubles in clark kerr, unit 2, and unit 1 (suites, then regular) but seeing as i am just a crappy freshman extension student i will probably end up in a foothill triple w/ some transvestites.
