I was just looking over my ECs and I realised I did most of them about 3 years ago. (Volunteering, work experience etc)
They were each about 2-4weeks long and I haven’t done anything ongoing.
I was wondering whether I should include these in my ECs, since they were quite some time ago? and if I do, should I email the relevant people to remind them of my time there or is that unnecessary?
I realise now that I never really established anything as an individual (ie. I never set up any clubs) so my ECs seem very poor overall would my lack of ECs affect my application a lot?
Include the ECs that you enjoyed the most, felt most connected to, and had the most impact on you as a person. Just because you weren’t able to commit a lot of time to something doesn’t necessarily mean that it wasn’t important to you. Think back on the things you did and which of were the most memorable for you.
I agree with OrchidBloom. I don’t think you should really include something you did before high school unless it was something really, really special and memorable for you. Surely you’ve been doing things other than homework in high school, right? Keep in mind a lot of things can be extracurriculars, including taking care of family members.
As long as it occurred when you were in high school, you can use it. Include EC’s that you are passionate about and that you enjoy/ed. There’s no need to email the relevant people.
