Which engineering major has the most potential?

i REALLY dont want to sound like the bad guy...but i know im not the only one sick and disgusted by zerox's NUMEROUSSSSSS posts about his "targeted income" and 'way to be the richest" and "majoring in enigneering/law/medicine/buisniess/IB/EVERYTHING". lol im not tryin to put u down, if u can do it thats awsome, i hope u make even MORE then ur "targeted income", it just seems more realistic to have a targed job and targeted happiness then it does to have a targeted income...money isnt everything. u want to work 300 hours a week to make 1,000,000 dollars a year and not have any time to spend it? lol i dunno man, i just know that i've read at least 1000 posts where u talk about ur targeted income and making the most moeny, and every tiem someone else starts a post, u come barging in and bring up ways to be rich and "1.75 percent chance of making ur targeted income"..etc. sry if i seem like im being mean, im not trying to , just throwing around my 2 cents.........take it as what you want it to be.

just join the infamous mob. if you're smart, motivated, and hardworking as much as you sound like or are willing to do, that would be the best bet.

I think he's joking. Or maybe it's Aspringer's Syndrome or something and he doesn't get it. I have even sent him a personal message b/c he seemed sincere but misguided. And not only does he still continue to ignore our advice but he continues to ask the same questions in the same exact manner.

This guy can't be serious. If he is serious, he is seriously desperate and deluded. There has to be something to stop it because it is becoming ridiculous. Zeorx, either give up the joke or I don't know but something has to be done. Sorry but I was nice for as long as possible.

No I'm not joking. Hey you gotta start somewhere.. Bill Gates, micheal dell, ect. didn't go to school and were college dropouts. Look where they are now.

They HAD a targeted income. And a plan to acheive that. Seriously why you hating just because somebody wants to achieve a targeted income?? I know it may seem shallow to want money. But Its much HARDER to have LACK of money. I know what its like to be in poverty and work in mcdonald.

If Bill Gates can do, why can't me or you, or anybody? This economy can support more than one millionaire. But when you let yourself off the hook, your giving up. And you'll be poor forever...

I'm not letting myself off the hook, and I Can and WILL reach my targeted income one way or ANOTHER.

IlliniJBravoEcho, Maybe you've been sheltered your whole life, you don't know what its like to have A LACK of money... But don't try to stop others from acheiving their goal.

First of all, those people who makes tons of money do not "follow" money. They have followed their vision and passion in the field. And then money follows them, 'automatically'. (AGAIN they dont follow money, they follow their hearts and money follows them.)

Second, many of those people (including gates and jobs) did NOT have an accurate plan to become what they are now. It is probably not a bad idea to have a long term plan, but son, you will not be able to follow that more than one step.

Third, seriously your targeted income, in my opinion, CAN NEVER be reached with these kinda plan. it needs lots of luck, connections, charisma, and whatnot. (meaning motivation, passion, vision, hardworking, hardworking, and hardworking are required.) And your statistically approach to your targeted income is very inaccurate.

Fourth, I dont know how poor have you been, but I know "what its like to have A LACK of money". so please dont be a bad example of poors, if i may say. (and seriously i dont think you are really that poor, because most people in an extreme poverty, including my parents in ~90s, want just enough money to sustain their life, get a car, buy a house, NOT becoming a millionarie)

I am really saying this to help you out, awaken you.

Yet, if you do not want to wake up or if you are joking, as i said early, joining the mob would be the best bet. (and it is very reasonable way to make lots of money; "one way or ANOTHER")

if u know what u wanna do, go and do it. don't post here. from your posts, its clear u don't know. u ask people for advice here, yet u keep on coming up with the same questions. u sound ridiculously childish with your 1 hundred possible majors and showed that u have done no research in pursuit of your dream of becoming a millionaire. you don't really think people take you seirously when u do absolutely no thinking and using us (generous college students and knowledgeable CollegeConfidential members) as pure entertainment?

Hey to lighten up the conversation: I have a friend exactly like this. He is half crazy/half retarded, but manages to be in all of the honors classes. In history my teacher mentioned that missiles used in Iraq cost 30 mil a piece. So the kid says, "why dont we just charge Iraq for the missiles?" Then he concocts a plan to make a $30 million missile. He goes out and tries to enlist the physics/math and chemistry teachers in his effort, one of whom worked on satellites and spacecraft.
Another kid in my school allegedly took a bus to Oklahoma from California to go to some lecture about a Ponzi pyramid scheme.

I am willing to make a descent amount of money, if it means I will be doing work I truly love, but it is difficult to figure out what will make me happiest. So I can understand his delusions to a certain extent..

I was not saying your needs to make money are deluded. I'm saying your ways and "plans" of acheiving it are. I want money too. I tried to find a way to make money doing something I love. I set myself a plan too. You are just switching to all kinds of things and saying you have an interest but really you just want a salary. It is like trying to win a race by focusing on just time. If you want to be a better runner there is technique and other factors too. Not just the final time. And the final factor: heart. As many times as I say this, if your heart is not in what you are doing it will never be done to the best of your ability or right for that matter.

Someone said it above, but people like Bill Gates don't just get rich because they said to themselves, "I want to make a million dollars". Bill Gates saw potential with something, so he bought DOS and he ran with it. He didn't know what would happen when he bought it. It's not like you can guarantee yourself anything other than working hard and doing something you like.

And I like, Bill Gates see a potential in something, engineering. I'm buying myself an engineering degree, in a sense, and I've decided to run with it. The most I can garantee is working hard and liking will come to me eventually. Its get rich or die trying.

you narrowmindedly seem to think finding the 'best' major is ridiculously childish. so when you waste 4 yearss of college in art, and 45 years of your life at the 3-11 shift at dominos, you would wished you'd had used your brains then.

jeffl, You Created an issue of Racism where one was Unneeded , and made people think that Racism in the Engineering Community were all Bigots , in the Effort to make poverty look like some "Hero" for "Fighting the Power" and "Fighting Racism" . I know Whites , AND BLACKS - In America AND Everywhere , that had money WAY before this board was around, AND was GOOD People.

You assumed I wanted money for the Wrong Reason without any evidence. There is nothing wrong with wanting money. Problem isn't the money. Problems arise from lack of money.

Money builds churches, hospitals, and homeless shelters..
Money educates..
Money provides for your family..
Money allows for options..
Money pays for healthcare..

Lack of money causes more problems than too much money. DON'T ever buy into the line "money doesn't buy happiness." Neither does poverty.

I've been poor before...and I've been unhappy before. I can tell you it's much better to be unhappy and rich.. than unhappy and poor.

As long as one builds wealth through hard work and does it ethically...there aint nothing wrong with Money Talk.

did you think hitler had heart in what he was doing? he had a goal (no matter how bad), and acheived it. did you think he cared about what others ppl thought? And look how successful he was... from a lowly painter to almost conquering the world.

and you assumed i didn't have heart in what i do., i'm always the best in what i do, no matter what, ALWAYS.

I feel that in the stead of making engineering look good , you has served to feed the Racism , and make ppl; think that making money in engineering is evil on some sort of Broad Scale .
