I am having a hard time finding the right major for what I want to pursue a career in. I want to help design products: like design best Nike shoes for running, design the best sports equipment, or help athletes have greatest technological advantages, etc.

Does anyone know what type of engineering this would be considered or what I would have to major in to get there?

Mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering with a concentration in biometrics is what you're looking for. Biometrics takes the physiology and mechanics of the human body help create better rigorously-used products ranging from seat belts to football helmets. The latter really fits the bill in what you are interested in.

Thank You!

Do you know of any schools that have Biometrics?

These are the few colleges with majors in biometrics.

Cornell University
Rutgers--New Brunswick
University of Michigan--Ann Arbor

You don't have to just major in that since Mech and Biomedical could give you enough background.

Its called Biomechanics at most schools. And most BME programs have a concentration in biomechanics. In general in most BME programs you concentrate in a certain area such as biomechanics, biomaterial, biosystems, biofluid dynamics, etc etc.

What are some good schools for biomechanics and what is their average salary?

Most schools are good for it, avg. salary would be avg. BME salary which is usually 45-50 grand to start.
