I’m a homeschooled senior applying to BU this January (RD). On their application there’s a space to upload additional info (it says, “Please use this space if you have additional information, materials, or writing samples you would like us to consider”). I am definitely planning on utilizing that space, but I’m not sure which essay I should submit: a creative writing essay, or an essay about being homeschooled. My mom wants me to upload the creative writing thing because she thinks its the best thing I’ve written and it would showcase my writing skills (I’m looking to major in English). I agree with her, but I also feel like I should expand on being homeschooled/the ways I’ve taken advantage of my situation. I briefly go over being homeschooled in the additional info section of the common app (just a sentence or two, nothing long) and I think my EC’s show that I’ve done a lot with my time, but I want to make sure they fully understand my situation. Any suggestions??
